Best location for church?
I'm playing the central region on the map, Waldbrand (directly below Goldhof), and need to build a church to level up my burgage plots. I've been trying to find what sort of places churches are usually built in, but all I've found so far is that the altar was usually on the east side. Should the church be built higher elevation than the town, on a hill, out in the plains, in the town center? Where do you build your churches?

Addendum: I wish the church didn't have a fence and we had the ability to create our own fences and walls (not just on the Manor castle editor). Would be great to have custom enclosures for certain parts of the town.
I put mine near the market, at the centre of the town. Your villagers need to pray every so often, and you want to avoid having them walk too far to do so if you can help it so a central location is good for that.

I always stick mine on a road bordering the market, facing the market. With the water supply in the same vein, if I can.
Because that is how they did things.
So I shall do things such as they did.

By the tavern to salute the great Meadrik and follow Meadism traditions. I hold the sermons myself, so no one employed there.

I don't know anything re: historical accuracy/habits, but I like to put my church wherever I'm planning to put the Manor. In my brain they kind of go together. So I usually leave a large area for that purpose, like top of a gentle slope if possible, with houses below/around it.

You can make multiple churches too, I just spread them around.
