Archers, gates, and towers

Do archers actually work properly? They either won't shoot or don't seem to kill enemy troops. Also is there a gatehouse for the manor walls? The brigands just charge in through the front gate. And finally how do you garrison units in towers? Or has that feature not been added yet? If I get archers enemy instantly charges them down

the Archers do work properly, try to get them behind the enemies or let them shoot from the side, it will decrease the enemies efficiency if they are surrounded.
There is no gatehouse for the manor walls as far as i know.
I havent figured out how to garrison units in towers yet myself aswell even after 70h playing but i think thats something the dev will ad in future.
Tried to involve my Manor in some fights already but never really worked out or made a big difference.. guess he will improve that future patches :)
