out of interest, how many buildings is maximum?
there is no building max. for each province you can get 6 dev points
At the moment the game is capped at level 3 plots so 6 points is the maximum. It's likely this will be expanded in the future.

It most certainly will. My prediction is that it will cap off at level 5 plots which puts it in line with buildings for the upper class. Level 3 plots are still just middle class
The maximum number of points you can get per region currently is six. No matter what you do, you won't gain any additional development points. I expect that as the game is further developed, this will change. But for now, six is the ceiling.

For THAT region, you can develop it how you want, with its own development tree...and cap of 6.
You can't. The idea is you make more settlements to specialise in other things you didn't in your main village.

After reading this I can confirm either you or I are having a stroke
Design wise it makes more sense that players have to make a choice and not just give you everything.

Yes, you can get new development points (up to six) for the new region. Those points will not apply back in your original region, or any others that you get.
The research tree should be global. With only 6 points per region you'd still need every single region to complete all the research. There are already difficulties setting up new regions - you can't bulk seed them with resources, you have to barter (which won't be viable until the region is producing some resources).

if you ask me the game needs to be even harder. no clay in this region no iron in this region and so on. if you want to hunt something you need to claim another region.
I like idea of region-specific resources, but the issue there is that if you're playing against AI and they take those regions, what is the player supposed to do? There's a limit to how much you can trade to get those resources.

I think that's why the concept of "rich deposits" was used (always 2; in some regions the soil is the rich deposit) - so that if you need a specific resource you need the region that has the rich version of that resource, otherwise you'll be severely limited.
