What's fun about the game?
I'm on the fence about buying the game, watched some Twitch streams and so far it look like there is a usual town building-zoning nuisance - like the homes not getting access to the tavern somehow and thus cannot be upgraded to L3.

One streamer practically apologized for streaming the game - it was like "sorry if it does look boring but somehow it's very fun to play". I've heard almost this exact phrase about Death Stranding which turned out to be immensely fun despite looking like a basic walk simulator.

So, please, explain: what do you think is the fun factor here? :lunar2019piginablanket:

I enjoy the pace of the game. The slowest speed is great for me. I really enjoy zooming in and seeing what the people are doing. The graphics are excellent. I play peaceful mode, no combat so I can't speak for that aspect.

I like the basic concept but it has a long way to go.
There are a number of logistical problems that need fixing soon.

If you played City Builders, RimWorld, and Song of Syx, you'd be severely disappointed.
To summarise: After 5 hours, you'll regret spending money.

But will I regret spending time? 5 hours of decent entertainment sounds fine for the price.

Songs of Syx is impressive compared to this, and both games have only one developer.
Always be wary of new games with nice looking graphics.

I'd try it and refund before the 2 hour mark to see if you'd like it. I personally enjoyed the time I spent on it, but the balancing is meh for now. It definitely needs a bit more time baking in the oven. I did about 3 runs and decided to just let it bake. No regrets in my purchase though

The fun factor is trying to expand your small village whilst facing food shortages, lightning strikes setting fire to buildings, outlaws, people freezing to death from lack of firewood, and, most important, providing enough ale for the tavern! Seriously, it's extremely addictive. Once you play you are hooked for hours.

Tbf, city builders aren't exactly great for streaming, they're for quiet enjoyment on your own. If you don't enjoy city (or more like town) building you're not gonna enjoy this game cos that's most of what it is.

Speak for yourself.

20 hours in, still loving it. Got 3 regions now. Slowly building up an army (that will speed up when the iron mine in my third region kicks in and i can start sending the iron to my main region for processing).

Loving playing it on slowest speed, watching the workers work, tweaking the logistics, slowing growing the regions.

Only minor bugs so far, nothing game breaking.

Looking forward to when i have a full army and can take on the enemy.

it is actually a very relaxing game to play. I also like, that it is not that hard to survive because that gives me the opportunity to build gorgeous citys and not focus on building modern suburbs to maximize the amount of people to gather all the ressources.

Yeah, currently there are still many things to come but I am happy with what I got so far. Always remember this is Early Access so don't expect a full game

If you dont know what so great about this game no one here will be able to explain it to you.
No there is no one running around with their hair on fire.
But for those who love realistic city/colony builders for the process and the journey will get it.
Perhaps an action RTS game would be more your speed OP?

If you like immersive style games that offer a decent collection of innovative city building mechanics you will feel comfortable to start this one. The normal pace is relaxing, the sound track is good. I have found that the mechanics reward organic growth. One of the things that keeps me coming back is that the game seems to offer me many landscaping options to create very beautiful scenic views that i can check out in 2nd person and walk around with my people.
