How early access is this?
Title.

What I mean is, it looks like it could be good. But how complete does it actually feel to play? Should I just wait?

I would say, wait. It depends on what you expect.

Wait.

And while you are waiting, read the 'It's Sad' thread.

My answer is there.

You're playing the wrong game if you like this genre.

Most things are working well. Not many game breaking bugs, but the player can get in some softlock by doing bad decisions, also the IA is very punishing.
The city building part for what i see is very well done and if you play on pacific mode you can have a good time.

The combat side of things on my view, still has a lot thing that don´t work as they should.
If the combat with huge armies is what you are looking for, i say wait a couple years. They will get there.

You are likely going to get flooded with Trolls on this post, as well as people just genuinely upset. Most of the bugs have workarounds, if you're willing to read up on them. A lot of people got horrible advice from influencers and are upset that things didn't work out as expected.

That said, you really have to like city builders to enjoy the game right now. Fleshing out your army is a lot of fun and there is combat to be had here and there, but there is no AI city to conquer, currently.

It's worth playing in it's current state.
Combat isn't great in that there isn't much of it and it's based on an 'off-map ai'.
once the 'on-map ai' is implemented I imagine it'll be great.

The city building is pretty good though. I like the dynamic markets and housing.
The artisan and family systems feel right to me.

It's not perfect but it's def worth the few dimes an hour you'll end up having paid by the time you're over it.

It's an alpha stage, many features are not in yet and there's basiclly nothing to do late-game. It's fun at first, building your town but once you've reached the max level for your village and start to expand, it's just more of the same thing and gets boring quickly.

I would say about 50-60% in therms of available content but that depends on what is already teased and what I think the full game might look like. Of Course the dev could have planned even more than the game sneak peaks with visible but locked content. I am not reading any roadmaps or development information on it.

I think for the current early access price people will get at least 15 hours of gameplay out of it. More is always possible. Worth it in my opinion

Yeah for sure. I'm not sure I'll get any outright lies along with what one might consider troll posts so even those complaints have some value with respect to getting an idea of where the game is at. But so far I've gotten some good advice from these few comments. And yeah, I don't listen to the paid shills. (Influencers) That's why I came here after some time had passed to ask real people what they think of the state of the game. So thanks to all above.

Well... it needs some work, at least a "day 1 patch" is still expected. After the patching period ends maybe in... 1 month or 2?, then, a 1 man project to implement new features... IDK, I'm a bit sceptical about the progress meeting expectations. I had good 20 h out of it, now put it to rest.

I agree 100%, I believe new content will be added and I do love this game. Right now after you pretty much built out your first village, town or city whatever you want to call it there's not much to do "late game". Sure you can spend 2k influence to conq a new land but that about sums it up. You can build grand cities if you want on all the other regions or small farming villages to upkeep your "main" city. There are lots of things not added yet and I hope the upcoming update address lots of bugs and adds new things for us to do to really build AND live in a medieval setting

Early Access cam literally mean anything. I have purchased several in the past that lasted 4 YEARS and those games had a small TEAM. This one is being developed by a single person so who knows how long it could take.

You need to do what I did. Stop. Think about what it is you actually want and buy or wait based on that. I personally am going to wait due to being burned on a few games. One being abandoned and the other the developer took a massive turn in where they wanted to take the game and it was to a place few wanted or purchased the game for. Then there is the third game I bought...Bannerlords, 2 years after early access, they "release" the game, its still unfinished 2 years later and they added a bunch of things that just caused even more bugs the game had at "release" with the boneheads still breaking the thing that makes the series popular, the mods.

Go by what it is you personally are looking for.

The too early part.

Someone call Sesame Street. They're missing one of their muppets.

Right now it is just a very nice and well-optimized picture. And some "presentation" of mechanics.

If look at the situation realistically, I don't think one person will develop the game quickly. And something intelligible can happen in 2-3 years.. Of course, if he does not create some team or does not abandon the project at all

To me it feels like a great EA title which will flesh out within maybe 2-3 years. If you don't want to try the early buggy stuff, then try waiting for a year or two.
