You should be able to purchase more retine
I'd assumed that the 5 retinue came from the 2 families in the manor. Seems the retinue are independant and work outside the population mechanics.
The gaurdhouse, or whatever, that explicitly states it increases retinue size does though ;)
I'm not sure what you mean. Although it's called a 'garrison tower' it only references 'retinue' and as far as I can see there is no such thing in the game as garrison.
It’s a bit of a misnomer how the game names the Manor buildings. The “Garrison Tower” increases your max retinue from 12 to 24. You can only have one GT per region. The “Outer Tower” adds a garrison of 10 to the defense of your Manor house. You can build multiple OTs.
The names should be reversed.
It's worse if you aren't playing in english, some of the names they chose, yeesh.
