Edit: PS the Manor house in the menu may look like it's saying you can't build it yet, but if you've upgraded your town's status ... once? twice? already, you can. The UI is wrong.
I havent seen it in any of my buildings.
Edited to add I havent reached small village yet as thats needed for the manor. Oh well
I would suggest you read through both of these before you restart.
- The Game Wiki;
https://hoodedhorse.com/wiki/Manor_Lords/Beginner%27s_Guide
- And the FAQ:
https://hoodedhorse.com/wiki/Manor_Lords/FAQ
After reading through both I see many elements, if not the majority, that players are having problems with.
- Most just not understanding how things work.
- Or what does what.
Yes, there are some bugs that will cause a specific element to pause or stop, but it can be fixed.
(most times I save the game at that stage, and reload the save. Most times fix's the problem.)
I havent come across any bugs yet just spent the free money before I was earning my fault :)
Thanks though. :)
Another good way is to sell leather from hides you get when hunting game
After that to boost your income just keep upgrading your houses for small passive income, but I have found that selling goods is a very good way to make good money
I have three market stalls food leather and firewood they dont get any income. The market is built right on the Kings road.
No income at end of year. I think the only way is find to find bandits and loot them kill them they should have some money. Or start again.
For instance, Berries usually sell for 3 on export and you don't need a trade route to get started. Not bad. Again, just be careful you don't forget what you are exporting--especially food stuffs.
There are 2 kinds of currency: "Regional Wealth" that is used to buy items, oxes and all that stuff and "Treasury" which you can use to hire mercenaries, settle other zones and improve your retinue.
Raising your population and getting those early Spearmen running as fast as possible will let you defeat bandits. These are a very good source of Regional Wealth early on. But you should work on trading as well (not every item forces you to set up a trade route).
Market Stalls are not for generating money.
You do not need a trade route established for most items.
Select the left dropdown, select export
- But you'll only get single travelers with backpacks that arrive. Trade routes have horse and wagon size exchanges.
There's a dropdown menu for trade rules that defaults to no trade for items and some items require you to set up a trade route to buy and sell them. Dye is nice because it does not require a trade route to sell and satisfies your citizens need for clothes in the market early on to level up.
you need to build a manor to get Funds for mercenaries and outfitting your retinue, but be warned that any level of taxation will cause your approval to drop which inst a bad thing, but it can and has slowed my growth so i've gone multiple years of 0 taxes to fill all the vacant space then taxed when i have enough workers and supplies. and because your treasury is only used for a few things you can hold on to the money you collect pretty easily and manage as you go
when there is no funds in Treasury and you get stuck with no money early in your village.
When you see the roof has some form of wooden struts that indicates it can be upgraded to lvl2 which earns me gold once a month from each family.
