I like Banished, should I buy it?
Tell me, what is the game.

Influential posts get counted, yes or no's don't.

I like grand strategy, 4x, city builders, and experiences that are much tighter and closer like Fable 1.

Real responses get a kiss. Help me out brothers.

This game is much more complicated and challenging than banished. It is more like an updated version of Age of Empires II Conquerors. You will spend time evaluating the map and setting up a town and supply chains. Then your AI opponent will rush you and destroy your town because you didn't properly balance your development. Pretty frustrating and fun. I bought it to pay for it to develop. Fingers crossed.

This is early access, it's limited in scope, many features are still unavailable and there are bugs, and yet it defecates all over banished, and wipes its rusty starfish on banishes hair and face.

So, tell me what is the game. It looks like more than just a city builder.

it's a city builder , with a little bit of combat .

so primarly it's a city builder

It's a city builder, and community manager with built in tactical combat, that, like everything else, is limited in scale, and yet again, it takes a steaming dump upon anything CA has managed to excrete out through it's Total War sphincter in the past 15 years.

Banished was good but lacked commitment from it's developer, Manor Lord looks to be a cross between a mid evil city builder mixed with a little bit of Total War but without the massive scale.

Think of it as old world Britannic hamlets, all coexisting among other hamlets but never getting along and always trying to conquer the hamlet next door to become bigger.

If you like strategy games, even in the Middle Ages, this game is a must for you.

Of course, it's not yet as in-depth as ‘Wiggles (Diggles)’ or ‘Oxygen not included’, it still needs time for that and that's also the reason why it's in the EA.

But the graphics and the small details, the music and so on show that a lot of love has been put into the project, and you can feel that when you play it.

Not interested, I trust the steam community to give me a balanced opinion. Gererally my fellow basement dwellers are right.

Banished was known for not having a lot of content, this one have half of that and this half is bugged. Also in Banished you had sliders to automate how many people work in each industry, you don't have it here, you click on individual buildings and swap families.

It depends a lot on WHY you liked Banished I liked Banished too. I'm also liking this game quite a bit as a city builder. BUT...

You CAN turn off all the combat/RTS elements so it's a peaceful undisturbed city builder.
You CANNOT then build a single giant town across all the available "map." The map is broken up into regions, which with the RTS stuff on, you would claim/conquer in a certain fashion. So it totally makes sense, I'm not complaining.

If you are in SANDBOX mode, you start on one region. You can build your "town" there all you want until it's edges full. Some of the regions are large-ish.
But when you claim another region, it's like starting a whole new town from scratch, including economy. They do not connect. You can barter goods from one region to another, but they are separate entities. It's like having 8 Banished maps in one save, except they are connected by bartering.

Other than that, it is similar to most city builder mechanics, except market system is wonky, there's early access bugs, balance, etc.
