Any way to make the building process more realistic?
I'm not a fan of "poof, built!". One thing I loved about Banished was that it took time for buildings to be plotted, materials gathered and things built.

What are you talking about? This is exactly what is happening when you build a house in Manor Lords. The only things that get built super quicky are the hunter's camp and the roads.

Well, that's how it's built in this game. It's not poof, built.
Or did I misunderstand your post?

Ostriv does an pretty sweet job with this. Maybe he will have time later on to increase the visuals of the structure going up. Cosmetic Eye candy really, He has bigger fish to fry 1st tho lol.

They flatten the ground, haul the materials, and build the structures incrementally in this game. The only thing they don't do is physically place all the beams and stone and stuff -- that does "pop in" in phases, but you don't just click and place an entire building down or anything.

Isn't that what happens in this game too? Assign plot, have resources brought in to build it, workers construct it piece by piece? Obviously some buildings have more mid-construction levels of detail than others.

I was looking at the videos on the home page, and it appeared to me that things were built instantly.

maybe in that video the time speed it's at max, when you play at x1 speed the build process is pretty good to watch, the only "poof" is the plot being cleaned before it is built.

That's just a promotional trailer. You should watch some actual in game footage on YT instead.

Greetings,

Perhaps you are playing on the fastest speed, 12x.

- Look at a plot your about to build and slow down to normal speed.
_ you'll see that they construct the buildings using the authentic methods and log works that were used during Medieval times
- Same for the upgrades, tear down the roof and place the 2 or 3 stories in the correct timber framing methods.
- Then it's filled in with plaster, brick or stone.

I seem to remember reading that the Dev. spent time researching construction methods during this time period, materials used and timber framing styles. Even had outside help with models to demonstrate their construction.
- I still love watching a game building going up, checking the timber framing and saying "yep that's correct".

I've seen about 3 different method of building construction in game.
- Timber Framing, Post and Beam, and half timbered.
- There's also different styles depending on the building type.
- Cruck frame (using curved timbers), and Aisled frame (mostly church's)
