I think the game on default settings are easy all around. It gets a bit hard late game because the enemy AI lord recruits all the mercs. So you can't have any. It's a known issue that will be fixed soon though. If you struggle with bandits, your free retinue plus militia can take them on, without losses 99% of the time. As your retinue gets filled up with with 20+ men, you can just send out your retinue to take them easily.

Fighting the AI lord I just use 2 spears, one polearm, one footmen and 2 retinues. Works okay. Wish i could use mercs though! Soon!

i must say i was really surprises by how less the game currently offers

I mean in 5h youve seen everything.

And multi towns are not really neccessary nor "nice to manage"...

Lets see in some months...

Why were you surprised? Is it because you're also not very smart and didn't read before you bought the game? Maybe stop rushing when you're playing and you'd have more time to enjoy it.

City building get a lot harder on challenging mode. Play "on the edge" on challenging and it's actually hard to get all the church and clothing up before people leave while also making weapons to defend yourself.

You can't win the game in 5h unless you already have 100h practising speedruns. You will need to expand into other areas to supplement what you are lacking in your main village, and optimise industry, trade and distribution while you build a big army while fending off attacks so you can win the last battle where the AI fields 12+ units.

I found the opposite. Maybe as a longtime Total War player I found the battles very easy, but the economy a bit harder to nail down.

Try on the hardest difficulty. That gave me a real run for my money, but I still managed to complete the game on it.

The battle is quite basic. A hammer and anvil strategy is insta win.
