Single or Dual Occupancy?
Is it better to have one house per block, or two? I usually put 2 if I can, but I am not sure if that is the most efficient/profitable use of space.

Two per block (with extension) is better in the long run. The housing plots might look relatively more ugly (due to a small shed) for lvl 1 and lvl 2 housing, but once you get to level 3 I actually start to find that the extended housing plots are more beautiful and allow for a more dense feel in a street.

Also I believe that extended housing plots provide 4 families at lvl 3, whilst only 2 families at lvl 1 and lvl 2.

I do dual occupancy except in houses i plan on making artisans,

when or if you make them t3 there will be 4 families in there and that feels wasteful to me but others may find that useful.

I'll do dual for the houses I plan on having large vegetable plots so there are enough people there to work them. For the ones that are going to be the Artisans, and will form my town centre I go single, to limit the families that will be drawing on the resources.

double has the benefit of using less ressource for upgrading as you still pay for one house but gut 2 families living there. I also only go for single housing option if the family gets bound for the job of a chosen extension permanent.

Doublse house of bowmakers fully upgraded almost deplets a plank production with 2 workers and I am sure it would have even fully depleted that when were built way closer to plankproduction facility.

Thank you for your responses! I think I need to do a bit more experimentation as to how I build my plots according to what I want them to do eventually.
