How are you supposed to provide more than 2 food types to 350 people ?
How is this possible ? I got enough Bread and Vegetables, but level 3 Buildings need more than 2 different food types and one berry and hunting spot is not enough to feed 350 or more people.

So, the only way to get 3 or more different food types is to buy the rest at the trading post ?

Apples or carrots in your burgage plots. Make sure they have 2x-3x as much yard as building and they'll produce plenty.

I have Vegetables (carrots) already. So the third one would be Apples. Bread, Carrots and Apples, but Level 3 buildings need 4 types of food iirc. So what´s the fourth type of food ?

Eggs?

You can´t get that many Eggs to provide 350 or more people...
1 family eat more eggs, than they can produce

tbh, without resorting to the vegetable garden trick, I don't think I could have gone too far.

Are apples worth the perk point?

You have to get them to get to rye, rye should be on the other side after plowing, You end up burning the point on apples so you might as well use them.

Greetings,

There are 7 food resources:

Meat: obtained from Wild Animals deposits at Hunting Camp
Vegetables: obtained at Vegetable Garden backyard extension
Berries: obtained from Berry deposits at Forager Hut
Bread: obtained from Flour at Communal Oven or Bakery Extension backyard extension
Eggs: obtained at Chicken Coop backyard extension
Apples: obtained at Apple Orchard backyard extension
Honey: obtained at Apiary
Honey as well is an option. If you get the perk for double berries, it might help you. I haven't tried trapping but it seem interesting for additional meat. I wish we could have more than 6 development points.

By the time you have 350 people you should have a wheat and barley farm, I believe Ale counts as food variety. Communal bread oven or properties with bakeries. Trading to supplement. There's also the foreign supplies perk which allows you to place food stalls in the marketplaces at will. I have a chicken coop, veggie garden and brewery for every 8 houses.

It´s not about how many types are available. It´s more about, which one you can get in masses. Only Bread, Vegetables (Carrots) and maybe Apples you can get in masses, to feed 350 and more people.

1 Hunting Spot or 1 Berry Spot isn´t enough, to feed 350 or more people.....

The thing is, you don't need to provide 4 type to more than just your level 3 buildings - of which you need a max of 15. As long as they're the ones nearest your market, they get filled first. So if you have a full forager (at least) gathering a berry spot, a sufficient supply of vegetables and apples, and bread, that should be enough.

Especially if you're already supplementing some needs with meat. Eggs certain can be done, and should be done, in every plot that's short or not otherwise used for vegetables. They do add up if your level 1 and 2 buildings are all making them.

Unfortunately, honey is only at the production level of meat due to the limited amount of apiaries, so that won't help much.

Basically, you build an urban center, as you'll never supply more than the basics on your extremities. There's just not enough labor.

When you update the forager hut you get herbs, does that count as food?

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3235725304 you can see, that I produce nearly everthing and I know, that you NEED only 15 Level 3 houses, but what about 20 or more level 3 houses ?

So that´s a bug ? Because my level 3 houses are the nearest to the market, but still don´t have more than 2 different food types https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3235725344

No, herbs are not food.

remember that every family eats 1 food per month, so for 350 people, which im guessing is ~120 families, you need 120 production per month.

Now veggies and bread are pretty easy to get in large quantities. If you spec into apples and rye, you get even more grain and apples actually make more food than veggies from a big yard but they take 1 year before they start returning anything at all and 4 years to get to full production (the game says 3 years, but this is 3 years and THEN it reaches full production the next year). This alone gets you to 3 food types, then you only need enough meat, eggs, honey, and berries to keep at least one in stock in order to satisfy needing 4 types.

Doing so without apples is significantly harder, especially if you have neither rich berry or animal resources in the region. You will need a lot of eggs, and even then will likely have to rely on importing food either via the merchant or pack posts. Right now the fact that food production is kinda overnerfed, there's no way to get meat from livestock, and there's only really one food crop you can farm and even then return is kinda crap means that without rich meat or berry deposits, a region really isnt suitable for a big town. We really do need more food types available to produce without wild resources, at the very least sheep above the limit of pasture space should be killed off and generate meat as new lambs are born. Maybe even have a butcher building to handle that instead of putting more work on the herders.

I'm hoping that far down the road when the game is much more fleshed out, balanced, and stable, that mods will introduce additional livestock, crop types and burgage food options.
