I know sprinting, uphill, etc reduces fatigue. What I mean is, the moment you click them to be rallied, their fatigue bar is almost entirely depleted. Like instantly, before they even do anything. And it takes a very long time of doing absolutely nothing to replenish.
Solution, unless you want to add or customize let the stand outside forever, the only downside to that is that bandit camp spawn seems to decrease when you have your retinue out but that could be just a coinkidink.
Paused the game. Selected my Retinue. Hit "Rally" right outside the manor house.
Retinue has -67% Fatigue.
Then I did the same for my Militia... And strangely they had the same! (unlike previous testing).
So I <unpaused> and disbanded. And tried again, and they were both at 0 fatigue.
I suspect it might be something being held over from the last time they were rallied.
The solution for me, as a work around, was to pause the game right after I rallied them and turn off their run command, or whatever it was called. I think the spawning of them bugs out sometimes and it thinks they ran a log ways or something if you don't catch it right away with a pause.
