Creating a joiner (shield maker) will use up all your planks for ever?
I made a joiner early on trying to rush out some troops to compete with AI. So far so good..but now my progression is hard stopped because I can not make planks fast enough. It is the ONLY thing using planks. Right now I have 3/3 working my lumber mill and 2x saw mills with 2/2 working and my planks get used up instantly. Never getting above 5 for more then a second or two. Can not build anything that requires them.
Whats worse is I can't turn off the joiner like a normal production building because it's built into the homes.

Edit: And I already did set it to create the smaller shields which is the lowest cost to make, only 1 lumber per.

Edit 2: Lol I found the fix, there's a little pause building button. It only says haults construction tasks but it seems to have haulted using all my planks too. Hopefully someone else having this issue gets helped by this.

i think you can pause artisans I did it for the cobbler. The game is missing a inventory/work management screen for most industries. So you will have to micro these type of things and stop artisans once they make enough of what you need.

My biggest gripe is the inability to set creation/harvesting limits for all the resources

I'm guessing something like that will come when the 'production' screen is ready. Definitely need better controls to manage production and artisans
I ran into the issue after building a couple of joiners.
Ultimately, one fully staffed logging camp and two sawpits were able to support my entire industry and allow me to stock up on planks on top, but it did take some time to catch up.

I had the following buildings consuming planks:
3 joiners
2 blacksmiths (spears & polearms)
1 bowyer

Is it possible that your sawpits were not sufficiently supplied with timber?
I had a period where not enough oxen were available to supply both my building plots and the sawmill.

You can pause the building if you click on it, at the top of the panel that opens up theres a "pause" option, only way to do it so far.

Had the same issue with the fletcher

That's a thought, i know i did for smithy by design. I may have also done that for the joiner.

Also had fletcher, didnt think to pause that as well but the joiner was more then enough to catch back up. Now I have more then enough lol.

You need to add a Oxen to your sawmills to keep them running while you're also building, also always make them right next to your lumberyards.

You're gonna need a lot of Oxen.
