all crops dissapear in oct
as much as i agree with the statement that crops wither its very frustrating and immersion breaking that crops just poof out of existence.

i tend to get a very big farm/farms going but thay are bottlenecked by the fact that the crops i plant cannot be harvested in time. i believe that its a bit strange that the farmers can start ploughing and sow before winter but have such a small amount of time to harvest the crops (in my last experiment thay can plough 18 morgen but cant even harvest 5).

i think a slow withering mechanic would be much more immersive and realistic. that as you get closer to winter the yield of a field slowly drops untill its all gone. also maby revise the harvest time. i think that 16 families should be able to harvest quite allot.

ps love the game.

to lord greg the 1st, chadest of game developers, he who carries the video game industrie on his back, destoryer of expectations :)

Sorry, but at 18 Morgen I think that your field is just far, far too big.
Stick to units of 1, make 3 sat a time & rotate in the old Medieval 3-field system.
They did it that way for a reason - not that I have gone down the farms route yet as the land isn't good enough.

Realistically speaking, wheat was actually sown in two cycles historically. The regular harvest, which was sown in spring and harvested in autumn, but also the winter wheat which is sown around September and harvested in late spring or early summer. The "everything dies during winter and there's no crops then" is largely gameplay fiction.

Also yeah do 0.3-0.5 morgen fields so you can do crop rotation effectively.

ofc i didnt do 1 field of a ♥♥♥♥ ton of morgen. but it was just an experiment to show that withe about 18 fields of 1 morgen each thay can plough and sow that before spring end but thay cant nearly reach that amount of harvesting becouse it has significantly less time. paired withe the fact that the corps just pop away is not very immersive in my oppinion. though i apreciate the reply's

i was just trying to bring to light the fact that the growing might be a litle unbalanced at the time.

In all honesty you dont even need crops, Hence fertility matters not.

in all honest i like the way the fields look :) and i think its a cool and intresting game play feature especialy the crop rotation and the "letting sheeps on the fields for fertilisation"

September is harvesting month. You want to get everything harvested within that month so you can start plowing/sowing.

October is sowing month, you can't plant any sooner than October. For 100% growth you have to get everything plowed and sown in this month.

You can plow early if you set the field up any time between November and September. It seems bugged because my fields plow automatically.
If you plow early, you can plant on the first day of Oct, rather than plow or still be harvesting. This way you can harvest early next August, and restart the "Plow/Sow/Harvest early" process.

If your field is too large, they will not be able to work it in time. Dividing a large field into 3 or 6 sections will allow you to use rotation farming method in which you have 3 active and 3 fallow at any time. I have multiple 0.1 morgen fields to start and have just started creating sets of four to six 0.2-0.3 morgen fields now that i can assign 8+ families to farming during Autumn. Having roads around or through your fields will also decrease travel time to/from work on the fields. Having multiple farms with the workers split across them will allow you to have some thresh whilst others continue to harvest. It will also allow you to have multiple Ox to increase plowing speed if you unlock the Heavy Plow development point.

Happened to me too. My field of flax and even the barley which still in 20% of growth phase went poof, and in the end I only got wheat. So what's acceptable size of the field so my harvest won't suddenly disappear? 1 morgen?

Sometimes the cow only plough three quarters of the field only, and left the rest unattended even after 3 cycle of harvest

It's not really about how large the field is. All my fields are 1 Morgen. The peasants collect everything in September AND start plowing/sawing again the same month. By the end of September they fully saw the field with the same culture as it was before, so with minimal effeciency...

And then October comes, with all what you saw is lost, rotation has happened and you plow/saw again...

set your farm houses to only work certain fields. i have 2 fields 1 for barley and 1 for wheat both large. i set the farm house work area near the barley to the barley field and same with the wheat. barley always finishes first cause its abit smaller so i then change that farm houses work area to work anywhere and they then go help out on the other field, never had any issues and i kinda like having to take people from other work areas to help on the farms helps with immersion

ps i dont bother with plows i dont think it works very well do it all by hand with full farm houses. im thinking your field might be to big for the workers, get more workers or lower your field size

If I micromanage - then I certainly can do what I want. The problem is for automatic crop rotation where you expect they do their job themselves. Especially when you have multiple regions.

I had another similar problem, probably. If I allow peasants to collect early harvest, then again, you could loose your fields. This is not confirmed, but I've lost 3 fields probably this way. They started collecting the harvest right before winter and then winter destroyed everything else.

me too

Problem is crop rotation - turn it off and see what happens
