Win battle, lose claim

My region was claimed, and I resolved on the battlefield. I won handily, and as soon as the remaining enemy retreated, I lost my region. I don't understand. What was I supposed to do differently? Is this a bug?

I was just in a battle for a region claim, destoyed all but one last unit, had 3 full health units left and then suddenly all of my units retreat, even though the unit size still shows 36/36 for all 3 of them. What a crappy way to lose a region claim.

Could it be that I needed to respond to a letter? I think I ignored that.

I wonder if something was affecting their morale, but that still seems silly given they had no casualties.

You need to maintain control of a checkpoin inside the region, if you're not inside it you will loose despire having defeated all the enemy units.

Think of it as king of the hill

I just confirmed this to be true. You must win a battle inside the circle. It seems silly to me that the attacker wins automatically if he gets defeated before he can even make it to the battlefield. The attacker should have to control the battlefield to win.

I wonder if I could cheese this as the aggressor? I haven't claimed an enemy region yet, but if it works the same way, I could just not show up and win by default.

I won the battle inside of the Battlefield Circle, but ignored the last Letter from the Baron. Suddently the Battle was lost, my Region with my biggest City and all of my fighters are owned by the Baron. This is annoying.

I found it frustrating that the AI claimed my region but the battlefield was across the map outside of the region being contested. Why do I have to go to them to keep my region?

A similar situation happened to me. I was battling with three full units and fought all the enemies. There were none left at the battle location. Suddenly, a message popped up saying, "You lost the battle." Interesting! :(

I have been playing and moving across the map. Upto three locations currently 2 working well and 1 being developed. I fought a battle in a 4th area but for some reason I've lost the 3rd area and kept the 4th, my 3rd settlement that i was building up? I have no idea why lol

This is applicable when contesting a region. I just tried it. One battle to win inside the battlefield is enough to claim it.
