Also if you select Archers and dont have any bows they will not rally. So if you have spears select spear militias.
Its my understanding that when you draw up a militia, villagers who join it will grab their weapons and armor either from the storehouse or from the specialist's shop stall if you allow them to have them, and they will keep them in their homes.
Disable the weapons storage at the warehouse,
- Allow the shops to fill up there storage.
And finally set up a single warehouse only for weapons.
- May take quite a bit of time to move any 1st warehouse stores to the new location.
Also assemble the militia (s) in the town, then disband them. check if the arms are stores in houses.
- Only time I saw this was if the Militia were never used for any fighting,
- Moved them around but never fought them.
- They took all the weapons and brought them back to a storage location. Thought it was strange then.
As posted, It seems that once they gain some experience they keep the Arms.
Once they have the basic equipment they will join their unit. So, if you have 20 x Spears and 20 x Large Shields (which is the free starting pack) you will have a Militia Spear Unit of 20 x Spearmen.
If you buy or make another 10 x Spears these will simply sit in storage until you buy or make another 10 x Large Shields. Whereupon a further 10 x Spearmen will collect their equipment and join their unit, assuming you have enough recruits available.
Military equipment being used to equip militiamen is stored in their homes, and so you can see which families have men serving in the militia.
Any military equipment stored in a warehouse is surplus to requirements. Either because there are no militiamen available to use it, or because it has not yet been collected.
