Productivity question: Artisans and expanded living space
So as the game tells you, if you build a certain workshop on the backside of the house (like a blacksmith), the people become artisans and won't do any other jobs. So if I build a large plot, and add on a family with the living-space addition, will it double the productivity of the blacksmith workshop on that burgage plot, or does the extra family just sit around doing nothing?

Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question, but I'm only asking because if you upgrade to an artisan workshop and add on a family and DO NOT get any boost to production, it would be quite a waste of an extra family.

For what it's worth, I click on the building details and open the tab to 'people' and it shows both families working as a blacksmith, but I just want to be sure it actually adds productivity.

it's a good question, one I wondered about as well
I liked to put the special artisan workshops on my biggest properties, but wondered if I was maybe wasting the extra families

I want to know the rate of production per house and if it varies from profession. My smith, fletcher, and carpenter ♥♥♥♥ out goods faster than I can sell while my cobbler might make a pair of shoes a month.

That's funny because my cobbler was 'stealing' all of my leather and drowning me in enough shoes that I could also supply the neighbouring village.
The smith definitely churns out the product. Goodbye, planks.

Yes, it can be a bit tricky. It also depends on the workers in the storehouse. The more you have the smoother the delivery goes, is my experience at least. And how far from your artisans your storehouse is. A lot of things can influence slow production. Slow it is though, I agree. But in the middle-ages I don't think things went so fast as we're used to. :steamhappy:
