Bandits obliterate settlement in spring of 3rd year

How does a group of 12 bandits wipe out 21 Spear and 22 Archer troops in the spring of the 3rd year.
Killed my settlement, first time I managed a decent start

Bandits seem pretty OP. Had a group of 18 cut through 45 well armed men who had the high ground.

They get fatigued extremely fast. That yellow bar is there for a reason.

Also your spearmen must stand still instead of charging. They get up to 125% efficiency by just standing in open field.

what i do its shield wall and the other team flank but yeah the first year there was 2 groupe of 18 and i lost some good men there

Going to be honest here, bandits are frankly too easy right now. Now before I get crucified hear me out, for 30 silver I can hire 2 units of Mercenary bandits consisting of 18 men each for a total of 36 men. Using those 2 bandits I can kill every bandit camp and clear the map before the end of year 1 and net myself 150 Town/Personal wealth for each camp destroyed, again all for 30 SILVER per month or in other terms ~20% of the loot from each camp.

As a reminder 30 silver is 10 berries, you are literally paying these poor bastards 10 berries a month to fight and die for you, and considering there are 36 of them, they have to share the berries!

Archers don't work what so ever. I killed incoming army and all that was left was their archers. I didn't want to chase them so i had my archers go after them. I watched them shoot arrows at each other for 10 minutes and not one person died from either side. Don't buy anchers until there is a fix. They'll just get you killed.
