Early Access - gives you an unfinished product
First of all good job for this small dev team and the great ideas which this games gives to this genre. AND fair what the dev said not to expect from this game.

I hate early access games - i am a real hater of EARLY ACCESS games, I've already fallen on my face a few times with early access, because my expectations were higher as the final delivery of the developers. In the good old days i bought finished games and the games were FINAL (version 1.0) and GOOD. Its like selling an unfinished car which is just driving to the left but not to the right. I rather buy a finished game for the full price. I understand that you can add your ideas as an interested player, but that's not enough of an incentive to buy "for me personally".

With all my interest and love for this game here - EARLY ACCESS is what you get here:

- First of all: Great Ideas for this Genre - especially the way of building is awesome and a good base for so much more (upgradings)
- Bugs
- Missing mid- and endgame content
- Lifeless world
- Imbalanced KI
- Missing Info boxes for newbs: e.g. why shall a player place a whole/rare family into a Oxen stable? what is the benefit? What is the benefit of a horse in the trading post?
- Oh 24 bandits arrived at the city which weren't visible properly before and burned down the whole city (game over)
- Micromanaging fields, because families dont work during the winter
- 1000 wooden shields on stock because the backyard carpentry works 24/7

As a big fan of Paradox Games I FEEL THIS PAIN - you see a good game BUT YOU HAVE TO WAIT until it is fully finished and giving you the fun you expect to have for many hours.
With enough patience, you will have "eventually" a completed product, which has reached version 1.0 including a lot of shaped out content FINALLY...i personally wait for this moment and pay the full price, but not paying for unfinished stuff.

This is what the developer recommended and i respect him for his words. Truth lasts the longest!

cheers

I get most of your Points: But Bandits get a message when they spawn, you just simply missed it. It probably spawned in your main territory, but even so it gives a message. Also no need to put a family in the oxen stable if you dont want, as unassigned people will also work it. Also theres no micromanaging fields, you simply just need to assign families, and disassign families once per year. Thats like every 3 hours. Also you can simply stop the Carpentry from working, by clicking on the pause symbol.

Yeah with the pause symbol, i found out too. too late. X-D What ever. Awesome game! Have a lot of fun with it! Was attacked by beeing claimed. Was a nice battle.

It's 2024. I can't remember a single good full-release. Some early-access games are way better.

You can pause artisan buildings.

I pretty much don't touch EA games until they have been out a year or so. EA is beta test in reality. If you want a game with minimal bugs and fleshed out game play then wait for 1.0.
There have been a couple of exceptions, but I see a game that went into EA in April 2024 and I know it will be full of bugs. I see reviews with people complaining about the bugs, well duh it is EA.

But if u look at the reviews on steam this is almost an overwhelmigly positive game. Other games (a lot better games, not saying this one is not but...) got review bombed for a lot less. And this one right here on the contrary. Where almost everything does not work as it should. Absurd.
I do agree on this one. I am kinda having fun playing Manor Lords, but things not working properly is frustrating. Buuut, I signed myself to EA, so that was expected. I do believe the reviews should be honest though. Not the "it is great. it was made by 1 person" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This is a product that is being sold for, I must say, quite a hefty money. Noone should care whether it is made by a single person or Google. It. Is. A. Product.

It's ok, it's an indie game started by a single dev ...

Stop treating every indie game like AAA product, please. Thanks.

It's funny to see you compare this to PDX games, a AAA company who deliver barebone product to be able to sell DLCs on it.

i don't compare the size of the companies / dev teams and i believe that this small team here will not follow the PDX path with selling expansion by exapnsion over the years, but where i see similarities is that we consumers will need a lot of patience with this game until its full potential is realized.

The dev was honest with his comment before buying this game and he said it because he exactly knows the current development status of the game. (that earns respect, many are not honest at all!) When a developer launches a product on the market, then the dev has to expect the full range of (constructive) criticism. Understandable because the development stage is EARLY ACCESS - for me not a reason to buy yet. This game has still a long way until being finished...especially with this size of the team it will take time. And when it is finished one day, it will certainly be a fun game like Crusader Kings II, for example.

I'm a realist and I'm just saying this (slightly annoyed for sure) because this is a game development trend that I absolutely can't get behind anymore. But with all respect to this dev here, that he was honest to us players before! I will still be happy to follow the development.
