I have tried it several times and you run out of money very quickly.
The initial start needs to be perfect to get past the first bandit attack of over 48 bandits.
Thats really hard to counter without mercenaries.
You need to be bold and take on single camps to get money for mercenaries.
no other way.
I belive the starting gear comes with every new family that moves in. already 2 shied al 2 spears there with no trading post yet. Its a tricky start, bur mates. I love it !
speaking of trading. buying food is STUPID expensive. and everything you can quite easily craft with a large surplus like shoes for example requires a talent to be able to be traded. wich wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt for you basicly having to spend the first 3 talents into fertilization of you fields.
I put my first two points into trade, makes it cheaper to create trading routes. I haven't had a food problem yet. Maybe when my town gets bigger I will.
