how to claim territory?
Looking to start a second settlement. say i dont have command over the region. How do i expand control? i thought it would be dropping a settler camp.

side note, absolutely loving the game so far.

I'm in the same boat as you.
I even summoned my retinue and two bands of militia from my town (33 archers, 25 spearmen, 5 retinue) and had them sit in the region. Nothing.

I don't have enough influence to claim it that way, and no way to do it with the king's favor cuz I see nothing regarding this.

So I have the same question.

Buddy of mine says he put his units in the area and they just built up control, but I'm not seeing this for myself with the units I have there.

So i figured this out today actually, you will need to do a few things to build another town in a separate region.
Firstly you will need to have the region under your control, to do this you must claim it with your influence. In my play through it costs about 1k influence to begin claiming regions, to build influence you need to build and upgrade your church and manor as well as set a tithe in your manor taxes interface. You can also build influence by defeating bandits in your play world. (not take the bandit camp over you just need to kill them all or route them)
after you have gained enough influence to claim the land go to the region map and select the tile you want to claim and at the bottom it should give you two options. Claim with influence or Claim with kings favor (have no idea how to get that)
killing bandit groups has usually netted me more influence then the manor and church upgrades but seeing as they are important to have you might at well do those too.

next thing you need to do (which it sounds like you are already prepared for but for the sake of others who might see this) have money in your treasury (not the same as your regional wealth) to get money in your treasury you will need to set taxes in the manor taxes interface and this will slowly build over the months. minimum you will need 250 gold in your personal treasury to place a settlement tent. once placed a menu will pop up and it will have 3 options for a settlement 250 is the bare minimum and will feel like starting a fresh game but with the support of your existing economy once you set up trade between your towns. option two is 500 gold and will offer more starting resources to get your new settlement off the ground faster and a 750 gold for more resources then the last (i cant remember if it also starts your new settlement with more families at the higher gold options so keep your eye open for that. ) select which option you want provided you have the coin and shes all yours!

Hey everyone!
Loving the game so far as well.
I'm struggling with that either.
Don't get the resources from bandit tents, as they seem tempting, otherwise bandits may never come. As mentioned, just kill the bandits.
I had a smooth ride on the second map, but the other lord claimed all the territories, so now I'm just waiting a lot to get the church fee (Thaite or Taithe in the manor lord) and claim with that. Just got one so far, so theres plenty more to conquer. For the first one there was a battle, the lord will send some troops to stop the claim. Be ready to fight back, one of each militia ans double archers should do. I also have the 24 reunite (special units from manor), they are good and strong, but not needed.
Make sure to give Helmets to your troops, helps a lot.
That's it, I'm not planning to populate the other regions, to much effort, I will try justo to claim them with the money and battling one with the army I already got.
Not the easiest, fastest and effortlessly way, but might work.

This is how I claimed one territory today and it was a lot of fun! It also was a nailbiter as I had to buy two mercenary squads and almost ran out of money to keep them. Fortunately the nerfed archers were easy to steamroll with my swordsmen.

You need to kill bandits and destroy their camps with militia or mercenaries. You can also earn favour by providing a church with a tithe (but this requires you to build your manor first). Mercenaries do not use town wealth, they use your noble treasury - which you will not have without first building a manor and providing a tax.

Does anyone know how to rebuild a town in a claimed territory that was attacked and wiped out and has a 0% approval rating? I have a territory that is awesome for farming but I can’t do anything with it because it was already settled.

You need a manor to tax your ppl and then I think is 500 treasure to build the camp and 1000 renown to claim it if empty or 2000 if it was already taken.
