I thought the price was reaosnable myself, only 30$ with day one purchase and the game seems pretty fun. But thats my own opinion.
Out of curiosity what was your troubles in farming?
To answer the OP - Yes, there is a raider only version and an enemy free version. There is also an unreleased on-map ai coming. They are settings like the Civilization games if you know how those work.
Regarding the AI off map adversary: game 2 of playing the off map adversary: seems to be claiming regions quickly after the first. You have around 2 years before the ai starts claiming regions, it’s quicker after the first. The raiders will be your main issue first depending on how you set the AI. Still fun, I recommend waiting if you don’t want to pay $30 but def recommend if you’ve been excited for it and want to give it a try. $30usd is steep for its current content but it’s day 3 of EA and I’d rather start play testing now and throw in feedback. Will be worth the full amount at full release imo.
To the reply, I found it challenging at first with the only hand-holding at the first main points and imo the tooltips menu doesn’t really help at this moment, buts it is just one dev! After I did some messing around in sandbox/enemy free and I got a better understanding, still learning but if you want any tips or have questions feel free to reach out!
It definitely seems tuned to be a bit more difficult than it should be at the start. Because of this, I haven't managed to get past 3 or so years before getting wiped.
And also yes, the AI off-map lord claims regions WAY too quickly.
Yes, farming is an issue. It gets a little better the more families you employ.
it took me probably 12 hours, but once I figured everything out farming worked quiet well. Took a lot of failures though.
its the same map, but everytime you start a new game, the resource spots, as well as fertility changes.
it also changes which region you start with, and which regions the AI lord has at the starts if you have the off map lord turned on.
but yea, there generally are 2 regions per map good for farming, i made my https://imgur.com/a/1coMecl farm village in a region where literally the entire region has a +++ for rye. https://imgur.com/a/nFIQQrm
Just to reiterate on this. If you set the AI aggressiveness to Reactive then he will not attack you, allowing you to build up a proper army. If you go in with just the default settings then he will come to control your territory around year 5, no matter how far you've gotten.
