Lost my Ox

One of the first things I did was order a second ox. I then got a message telling me I didn't have enough hitching posts, so I built a second one.

The game tells me that I now have 2 ox and 2 hitching posts, but one of the ox is unassigned.

How do I assign it, and a better question, how do I find it???

I see they have a chance of leaving without a place to stay, but I can't find it anywhere, despite it saying I have 1 ox unassigned, which suggests it's still around.

What cattle trading post? Do you mean the livestock trading post? I haven't built one of those yet. You can order ox directly from the hitching post.

I have this same issue, ordered another oxen from a new hitching post, oxen never arrives just has status 'following'. Do I have to build a cattle trading post?

I had a similar problem. I upgraded the hitching post to stable so it would have room for 2 oxen, purchased one through the stable (no livestock trading post yet) and while the stable showed as full (2/2), the second ox wasn't listed. I looked around the map and didn't see it. I went back to an earlier save, then got the 2nd ox later through the livestock trading post and it worked that time.

press the tab button, it shows where all your animals are. If you don't see them there I don't know what to say.

Ok so I built an animal trading post and it was there in the livestock tab, I double clicked on the picture of the ox and it was out working. So it seems you need to build an animal trading post don't just order from the hitching post.

Hi there, what to do when your ix died in a fire and you don't have enough wealth to order a new one.. what then? How to grow your wealth without an ox, becouse building is no option without an ox as well

I have ordered a dozen oxen from hitching posts in multiple games. You don't need an animal trading post. You do need to build a second hitching post first, then order the ox. Or upgrade your first hitching post to a stable first.

I had the same problem, bought a new ox from hitching post and it was stuck in "following" status. To fix it, you have to put the game at max speed until it gets "unstuck". It's dumb, but that is what worked for me.

Thank You for the Tip. I had the exact same issue. It helped me get my ox almost immediately after I hitting the 3x speed. It came running from somewhere.

Some buildings can have their own ox or horse. Find the "advanced" option at every bulding, and you can assign the animals with the plus button.
I am not exactly sure, how the ox/horse handling works, but I guess as the stable can house 2 animals, and also 2 workers can work there, so it probably means, you can assign the worker for the animals at the stable, so this worker will ride/escort the animal even when you assign the animal to a workplace. (so not the workers assigned to the workplace will use the animals)
But be sure to have unnassigned ox for the building job, similarly how you need at least one free family for building.

I have a similar problem. My new ox is following a forrester while he is looking for a planting spot. Pretty useless and certainly a bug. :D Haven't found a solution so far.

Note, if you do NOT have a free family sitting around, then your Ox will tend to follow around whoever was using it/interacted with it last until they get some free time to drag it to a hitching post... Or, a family assigned to a hitching post...
