You need to build a church to draw new people in , and just make a militia which will fill passively if you have the required items.

thats the thing the game told me to make a melisia... the game gave me 20 spears and 20 shields.. but when i choice to make spearmen, it only gives me 10.. and even though i tell myself "alright 10 it is then.." it still wont let me make them cause it says i have nothing to recruit

"Strat gaming guides" has a video on this up on one of his channels.

He explains.

"Once you get your reputation over 50, villagers will start to come. One each month. When it goes over 61%, two will start to join each month."

So get your reputation up with all the houses, and have enough houses to receive a new family every month.

You DO NOT need a church to draw in newcomers. You just need to have your approval rating at 50% or higher. At that level one new family will move in each month.

You need the church to move up to level two housing.

When you click the military button do any troops show up or is just a + sign? If it is just a plus sign then you select that then select spearmen. It should give you 10 spearmen they will run around and collect their spears and shields and put them in their house.

there is just a plus sign, and when i click it it gives me 10 ( even though i have 20 spears and shields".. and then its only Red, saying i have no recruitment...

when you say they run into their house.. does that mean i use "1 population" because it is waiting round with spears?..

You need 50% approval or more to get +1 new family every month.
You also need to have a empty house for them.
Church will give an approval boost but it's not obligatory at the start.

The Militia is confusing..
So the game tells me to make one.. i make 10 with spear and shield... i see them walk into a house... but it was the ones that was my wood cutters.... so now no one cuts wood anymore..

what does this mean?... i already have 1 unasigned family...
why did the game one i already had asigned a Job for, and not the "un-asigned" one ??
Now i need to cancle it to make them go back to do wood cutting... but then i have no Militia ready when i get atacked?...

I think you have already succesfully created a militia. The game tries to fill units with 36 troops, the max for a unit. You only have 10 guys available for militia, so the game tells you there are no more people to recruit. If you get more population, the amount of militia will increase until there are no more weapons left.

Important to know about the militia is that it's not a standing unit. If you create a militia, the people in the militia will take the weapons and bring them to their houses. They keep their main job, such as lumberjack, builder or farmer, and when you call on the militia they will get their weapons and be ready to fight.

All the men from the village goes to war.

Each house is a family, husband, wife, kids and these are your workforce...

You put one to cut firewood? entire family moves..
Wife works the market for firewood, husband gets the wood.

The man joins militia and leave the house for war?

1/3 of the workforce gone for until he returns.

As I said in my previous comment, the militia are kind of part-time soldiers. They keep their jobs, until you want them to get ready for a fight. You can click on that militia icon and there'll be a symbol above it, kind of like flags. Click that, then click on the map in a spot with space, so the troops will gather there. Then the militia will go to their houses, get their weapons, and go to that spot you clicked. They'll be ready for a fight.

I have never fought a battle because I always restart before it gets to that point. lol.

The militia is made from your citizens, they don't spawn new people. So you only have to use them when you need them or else nobody is going to work.

OK but this is what confuses me.. will try to explain as good as i can.. When i form a militia with the + sign.. they went with weapons into their houses.. And STAYED inside. they didnt come back out to work.. i didnt call them out on the map where i could boss them round where to run and such" they just stayed in their home untill i went back and Unclicked them so now the menu of the militia only have a "+" sign and nothing more again...

Wich makes me feel like ok so next time i click the + sign, will they run to their homes for their weapons?... Or will they go grab weapons "again", go to their home "again" (wich took forever) " And then,, be ready for me to use for a fight.

cause what it feels like when i read your comment is that it should always be one in the recruitment, but once they left their weapons inside their house they go back to work and only gets called upone when i call them... but they just sit in their house waiting for me. they dont go back to work.
