BUG: Game Opens on Wrong Monitor, Cannot be Moved
Has anyone else with multiple monitors run into this?
I have 3 monitors on my PC, a large, central display (1440p), and two smaller stacked displays (1080p) to the side. For whatever reason, even though my large display is the primary, the game insists on running in the smaller upper right monitor instead.

Things I've tried:
- Setting the game to "Windowed" mode and dragging it over - Didn't work, Windowed mode had no visible difference from Boarderless Fullscreen and there was no way to move it.
- Using Windows+Shift+Arrow Key to move game to another Monitor - Works temporarily, but window remains the same size as the original monitor (does not "maximize") and changing any other video settings reverts it back to the top right monitor.
- Unplugging the other two monitors - Works, but now I can't use my other two monitors.

To the Dev: PLEASE, just add a setting to select which monitor you want the game to run on.
I've had a few games that didn't do this and it was absolutely infuriating to get them to work right. I know the game just launched early access, but this kind of thing should be the absolute bare minimum of basic functionality.

I haven't an issue playing on my 2nd monitor via making it Primary thru windows, it opens right up where I want it (I only have two monitors tho).

But I took a look and for me if I put it in windowed mode, the "resolution" setting remains locked. I had to exit the game fully/reload after setting to Windowed option, and resolution setting being locked would go away and I could make resolution small (like 720), so it would window, and I could move it over and make it borderless/it would play.

However if your monitors are different resolutions, whatever on the game is opened on stays as max resolution available. So if you were to move it from 1440 to a 4k, it would stay 1440 when you moved it. Dunno if there's a way around that.

Just my experience.

When I open the game it opens on my primary screen for about 3 seconds... and then it moves onto the second one, and can't be moved back. The ONLY way I got the game to stay on my primary screen is disabling the second one. Which... is sub-optimal. Doesn't seem to be a manor-lords-exclusive-issue though, I had the same issue with Helldivers and 1 or 2 other games. It's weird.

There's a clue here with what you've said. If it's happening in other games as well, then it could be operating system related. Or maybe drivers.

Hi All. I also have a related issue. I wanted to move the game to another monitor. I went to Settings, Display Mode, selected Windowed. This did not work; the windowed display was not visible so I adjusted the Resolution to display the top window ribbon. This did display the top ribbon yet, the mouse pointer was unable to move beyond the borders of the new window. My drivers are up-to-date. I have not experienced this with my other games. Feedback is welcome to resolve this issue.

I was having this issue and I solved it like this:
1. exit the game if you are in it
2. unplug your second monitor
3. start Manor Lords and wait until you see the main menu
4. quit Manor Lords via the main menu
5. wait for Steam to finish its cloud save business
6. plug in your second monitor
7. start Manor Lords
8. rejoice

TLDR: Start and quit the game cleanly without the second monitor connected.

Greetings,

I also have 3 monitors, and run the game on all 3.

Matched ASUS monitors and running in 'span displays with-surround" through Nvidia.
- Resolution 5760 x 1080 (On a RTX3060 12Gb)
- With this setting I can assign a centre monitor of the 3. set #1/#2/#3 for what will be the normal centre monitor for all things.

Now if you start to drag different windows to side monitors, say have 3 or 4 windows open, then it will remember that position for say the #2 window and always move it there when opening a #2 window. Until you close all windows, but some programs will still open in left or right monitors. (can be changed by dragging program window back to centre.)
- This I like for certain programs, say the virus scanner program.

Do you want to run the game on only one monitor?
- The centre monitor and not any side ones? Or all the monitors?

The game will look for a monitor that match's the settings resolution size, if you set the game resolution to match the main centre monitor it should find that monitor for gameplay.
unless all the monitors are the same resolution.

change display mode to Windowed; change resolution to something lower. Move window using cursor (ensure it is not locked to the window, under controls) to the preferred monitor; set resolution back to what you want; set display mode to borderless fullscreen or whatever suits.
I tried it like this. It does not work for me. I can do it and it runs on the display I want but then I can't anymore switch to 4k, this option will not be listed anymore. The only way is to disable the display you dont want. Its not a steam thing, it's always the game responsibility. I cant understand why games like this has not an option e.g. by commandline to choose on which display to start, the Unreal engige is able to handle that of course out of the box.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
