What are tools used for?

I can't find anything that uses them, no buildings or another resource that requires them. Are they just for selling? Or just are they just planned to be used for something in the future?

Currently they are not used for anything except trading. In a early demo version they were used but the dev changed his mind. So its only good for trading.

Are you sure they're used for only trading? My tools have went from 20 to 17 and I'm definitely not trading them.

You might have had them stolen from you, but why did you lose 3 of your 20 while I lost 19. Man I hate RNG XD

It's quite random yeah... Once i had 1 hide stolen from me, another time same as you, most of my tools

As long as bandit camps exist somewhere on the map, random goods will be stolen every now and then. Bandits don't physically go to your town, they just magically steal things right now.

I want to say that they make building and processing faster but I don't see how else they are represented and used.

The only interaction I've had with tools is to see them get predictably stolen by bandits.

I wrote a guide with a little more info[www.slythergames.com] about Tools, but I'll also share it here. Adding to probably what Bob was hinting at, their former use was explained in the encyclopedia. While it doesn't work this way anymore, the Essential Commodities page originally said families consume one per year and if you don't have enough, there's a 30% chance of failing to craft items.

It's possible this could come back or something else altogether. But I figure they'll be used for something again eventually.
