Same problem here on game pass, haven’t found a workaround… I had to load an older save

i have not seen this in the gamepass version unless they are actually waiting for something.

for instance, i had my tailor set to make clothes, thinking they only needed leather. then i saw my tailors standing around "waiting" after which i saw, they also need dye to make clothes. so after i supplied dye, my tailors no longer stood around waiting.

this also happens when someone tries to use an ox, horse, or mule. whilst there is no ox, horse, or mule available.

So make sure your citizen has everything it needs for what it is trying to do, if the citizen is trying to use an ox, but there is no ox available, he'll have to wait his turn, or you'll need to build another hitching post/stable and order another ox.

Def a bug there are more people standing around than what my whole figure of settlers are. Threads full of glitches and bugs. Over hyped game just hit reality

I saw this happen to me at a work site, and they only started to work once the ox got there with some logs to make to the building. they more than likely are waiting for a shipment of supplies or need something you don't have in stock. that often happens in these games , We click on to many objects to build and overload the work/supply of goods.

I also have two dozen villagers.. all seem to be male.
Standing around with "none unassigned waiting" when you interrogate them.
Their animation is a very short standing animation twitch.

Could possibly be a troop that was disbanded and haven't found their homes?
Especially if houses were burned down.
I tried unassigning all workers and re assigning. Didnt work.
noted that I could not actually unassigned everyone. Some places would not allow it.

Might try forming the malitta gain and disbanding them.

Good point about the ox... Bandit slaughted about 4 oxen in my village and I did replace them.. but they are still hanging around.
might try relocating teh stables acouple of times.

this is most likely the reason

also keep in mind, that Ox's are more efficient when you actually assign a family to the hitching post/stable.

and of course having more Ox's mean more people can use an OX at the same time.

for instance the firewood cutter cuts its own trees and needs an OX, the lumberjacks need an OX. and the saw pit also needs an OX to get the logs from the lumberjacks.

that is 3 Ox's assuming you only have 1 family working in each of those locations.

how many Ox's do you have? and do you have any families assigned to the hitching post or stable where you keep said Ox's?

are you sure the citizens that are standing around have the resources they need, if they have a job for which certain resources are required?

Yes I have people assigned fox the Ox's. As for supplies.. I THINK I do. I will have to check. For some reason it seems like log cutters ox just f's off willy nilly and halts supply

just for reference, you do not have a military recruited right?

i saw this in another topic, so for people that do not know.
if you recruit an army (excluding bought retinue, or mercenaries) then it actually takes away from the male villager population whilst they are recruited. meaning that eventually if you keep your army active too long, your production lines will come to a stop.

I am pretty sure I have them back and not on a patrol or formed up. I will have to check. It seems like something with the ox has the entire system bugged out. Which if true...means I will essentially have to restart...FML.

People are not even working anymore on my game, they just stand around. I tried assigning people to the Oxes, tried demolishing buildings (wildmill worked for a while and then people got stuck on waiting again), tried assigning new people to jobs and nothing….

I think this is the exact issue I am having. If I was a betting man - I am willing to bet it is essentially a bugged up que. Having too many buildings set to construct confuses the game. I am quite sure this is the issue. I am about to fire the game up. If I figure it out I will post it on here.
Grizz_FMJ Apr 27, 2024 @ 5:36pm
OK..I think I figured it out - that was fast. Thank God.
Most likely the problem :
1. You have men out on patrol {retinue from town not hired mercs )
2. You don't have enough OX OR they are not assigned.
3. THIS is what fixed it for me. Save the game. Close out completely. Load up the save- should be good. Once I fired it up I had like 6 messages of plots/buildings all constructed.

im really not sure what is going on then. i have 11 hours on the game pass version now. and i have 2 towns in 2 regions, both with close to 200 population, and both producing different things and trading with each other.

here is my starting region https://imgur.com/a/VjImbjP
and here is the first region i claimed https://imgur.com/a/uos9OwN

in the first town i have 5 stables with 8 oxes and 2 horses.
in the second town i have 3 stables and a Hitch post with 6 oxes and 1 horse.

for me everything seems to work fine.
