The custom banner does work (NOW), i used paint.
So i just spend over a hour making the banner look as good as possible in *paint* as i could with hand made shading and loads of detail, only to find out that my image does not load from the file. I did use the press kit banner file for the image saved it as a .PNG in the savegame file but when i load the game and press on the folder icon absolutley nothing happens. Im a broken man :(

Is this a limitation of the editing program i used, am i a fool to think that paint is still relevant.

please tell me if i can salvage this mess.

Did you name it custom_coat? The press kit template is named template_custom_coat.png, but you have to remove the "template" from the files name.

I have and its working now, i did not see this anywhere except in a youtube video explaining it, it also needs to be all lower case when saving the file any capitalized letters and the file does not work.

"Custom_Coat.png" works fine for me

well good to hear, for me it did not. I have not a clue why it did not work without.

The key for me was to name it custom_coat (lowercase) and save it as a .png. Apparently, it is saving it as custom_coat.png.png unless you drop that from the name. Therefore, it will not use it.

Do the colors match? Because I get different colors in game compared to the .png file that i draw. Gray background becomes black, red shifts to green and blue to yellow.

Edit: So after a few days I managed to fix it. I hope someone with a same or similar problem stumbles on this solution.
Disclamer: I dont know anything about graphic design so I just click on things until it works.

So I made a banner in Paint but was to "pixelated". I opened that .png file in GIMP, changed the precision to 32 bit integer, made some slight changes, applied gausian and antialiasing filters and I remember something about that .png becomming transparent. It did not work in game; colors shifted when I loaded my banner.

So today I just loaded that .png file into Paint and without making any changes at all I just saved it again. Paint said something about losing transpareny but whatever. Anyway, it works now. Maybe transparency was the problem?? Idk but the solution is to load your .gif in Paint and the just save that file from the Paint itself. Hope it helps.

Great game BTW.

@KANEDA you can try saving the file as a Jpeg, and then saving again as the stated needed PNG. it might fix the problem, then again i had my own fare share of problems with the banner system, so in that regard im not sure how much im able to help you.
