This, if you dont have the troops, then have the gold. Bribe him and he will make peace with you, for the moment.
Next time, be ready.
So now I accepted the fight, his army spawned where I can't go anyway, with nearly 90 troops and I have 20, and a timer is counting down to... I guess auto game over?
Edit: I was wrong. I could go there and when I did there were some 350 troops. So much better
I am currently at the 2nd campaign and AI was a little slower initially, but after he claimed 3rd region, he started claiming another one every couple month. It's summer of the 2nd year and I already have no good regions to expand. At least this time he won't be able to claim mine region, as I lowered the AI aggressiveness.
I was thinking of the following strategy:
quickly raided bandit camps in order to gain influence and gold. Gold would allow you to oppose the claim of neutral territories on the map by hiring mercenaries.
Do you think this could work or is the AI really indisputable even when hiring mercenaries?
But I was able to defend my region when it tried to claim it. It was a bloodbath but I was able to defend it. You have to invest heavily in spears, bows and big shields. They are the best for defending (allthough archers got nerfed really hard but that might get reversed).
I think it was the third or fourth year. I livestreamed it and the fight was 5 hours into gameplay. Dont know how much time that is ingame. But that fight literally broke that save because I had half of my men dead and therefore the wealth in my town went from 3k very fast down to 0 which is the death sentence for my town.
This is what I did in the first game I played but the apposing Lord got to nearly all the Bandit camps and wiped them out before i could, even with game set to max bandit camps. He just wondered the map killing them all and then taking the the lands.
I am going to start a new game today and probably change some settings
