My only Ox Died, is the game over?
I cannot do ANYTHING without an ox (and ofc I have a horse which is actually useless for construction or transporting). I can't even bring goods to sell them, which means I can't ever buy another ox.

Is my game over? Should I just restart?

Goods don't need an ox, only timber does. You should still be able to trade at the trade post.

You can click on a hitching post and buy a new ox if you have twenty wealth.

There's also the option to raid a bandit camp if you have a militia to get some wealth.

No way to MAKE wealth.

I've been switching my initial four families to gain wood, fuel, berries etc to provide for population. To have my only ox disappear so early is more than an irritant

Losing your Ox to a bug is worth complaining about.
Spending your starting wealth on the correct things is up to you.

You start with 50 wealth, enough for a second oxen and a couple burgage plot upgrades, and this seems to be a pretty good place to start.

You get more families by building excess burgage plots and keeping your approval above 50%. You get wealth by upgrading their homes.

Don't try to expand beyond your means, just make sure you've got the essentials covered before worrying about trade or anything. What do you plan to export for extra wealth if you can't even bring more families in yet?

6 months is still the beginning phase of the game, learn and start over. It's rare for your first settlement to be prosperous in these types of games.

TERRIBLE game design.

I do think it should just be slower or require a larger workforce to move timber if you don’t have an ox. Like require 3 people to move it. Same way the heavy plow / ox makes plowing faster. It doesn’t completely prevent you from plowing without it.

This is a serious bug.. The dead ox still occupies a slot of the stable. I tried to destroy it and build a new one but soon realized that it’s impossible to build one without an ox, which means my save was absolutely ruined🥹 (A TERRIBLE CIRCULAR DEPENDENCY). Villagers should be able to move timbers at a low efficiency rather than impossible, or the basic stable would be built without timbers at least. I’ll wait for your fix to continue my save. Thank you!

Yep, had two games where mine straight up ran away in the first 3 months and soft locked my game into an unrecoverable state. This is a HUGE oversight.

I figured it out!!!! only works if you bought a chicken coop. IT REFUNDS THE WEALTH. You just need to "demolish" the building with a chicken coop.

My ox went missing for a month. I went to my hitching post and clicked on livestock. Said she was transporting. I clicked on her icon there and she emerged from my food stall in the market carrying a log.... seems like a bug.

Yeah so I got raided, my whole village is burnt to the ground and my ox are killed. I don't have a trading post so I can't trade for a new one. I can't repair my stable either and I can't build a new one.

This is kinda bad. I mean the villagers should be able to haul logs by themselves, although at a MUCH reduced speed. I mean if you are 6 people, let alone 12 or 24, It's not that hard to move a log..

Guess I have to start over after like 1,5 hour run -,-
