There's also the option to raid a bandit camp if you have a militia to get some wealth.

Ox should be a speed boost maybe, but the only source of moving logs? Come on now...
If it is possible make it where it takes two people/families to move the tree.

absolutely agree. or, if you run out of timber and your timber lodge isn't built you need to be able to slowly get timber with unassigned families. I like how banished did it frankly. For instance, during the off season farmers would do other things etc, like cut timber you assigned to cut.
I got the reference. Gonna rename my village "Oregon" now.
