Pretty basic reading comprehension here: it's a day/night cycle, and it's cosmetic. I dont understand what's difficult to understand about that?

"cosmetic" is usually tied to everything else than a day/night cycle. Like clothing, placeable extras etc. Don't need to be rude about it.

Quite literally. Its just a day/night cycle that is cosmetic. It doesn't have any gameplay effects. Its just to make it feel like days are passing by. If its off, it will be forever daytime as the months pass by.

I believe it was turned off by default as it makes it more difficult to see, they give you the ability to turn it on to view the splendour you have built

Thank you kind sir and exaclty.. i played games since i was 6, im now 36 and i have never seen a game adding "cosmetic" above it.. i thought to myself it might "change some cosmetics about it" to make it more Darker nights or such..

Yeah, unfortunately there are some terminally online basement dwellers who somehow feel so self important as to ♥♥♥♥ on people for simple questions that do make sense. I, like you, was wondering for the same reason why it was called "Cosmetic".

I didn't get the question either since cosmetic was pretty self explanatory in my opinion. Cosmetic means the day night cycle is purely cosmetic/visual and does not affect the gameplay. But I would have just explained it here without trying to sound so negative about OP.

Surely you know about the 6/36 meme

I came here to check for this question myself. In my head the concern with it being set to off is. "Does this mean there is a non-cosmetic day/night cycle that affects gameplay?" Therefore I googled it to see if turning this option on would remove gameplay aspects in favor of cosmetic ones.
