Is the hype real?

After being duped by so many games that have been hyped up over the past few years, I'm very skeptical of this game. Can anyone share a non-biased youtube review of the game?

Depends on what you want, to be honest. I can't really point you to Youtube reviews as I'm not aware of any proper reviews, but I can tell you from the gameplay I've seen that the hype is real if you're looking for a fairly laid-back medieval city builder with an emphasis on historical accuracy and a small side serving of battles.

Fair point, are there any youtube reviewers that are non biased? I don't want a youtube shill telling me what I want to hear. I want to hear the good, and the bad.

Nobody but you can answer this. It depends on what you expect out of the game.

Hey, it's going to be one of the best building games ever. It will still take time to develop, yes, and he should be given as much time as he needs. He should do it in peace, man. But what can already be seen goes beyond the scope and makes big studios look pretty stupid. It sets many new standards that other developers MUST follow!

When I played the demo myself, it was clear to me from the first second. Just as streets and houses were allowed to be built freely, this will be the minimum standard for future games of this type.

I could tell you tons of stuff.

This game slows you down in these hectic times. The developer managed that too. To bring peace to the players and watch the village grow.



It's not about hype. It's about a game coming onto the market that is still pretty raw. Many mechanics are missing and will be added in the next year or two.

If you want to buy the game because of the fights, have fun. This is a small point that belongs to the game.

Manor Lords is what I've been waiting for for so many decades (Knight & Merchants1998). Now it's coming.

I generally put zero stock in IGN reviews and feel that they are rightfully memed on, but after watching a good amount of gameplay from others on YouTube, I agree with the verdict from their review:

Manor Lords is a gorgeous medieval city-builder that kept me occupied for hours building my perfect, cozy hamlets. But it's not the type of Early Access game that seems like all it needs is some spit and polish to be fully playable. No, it's definitely unfinished in several key, critical ways, notably lacking much of an endgame challenge or any way to put its flashy RTS battles to a real test. It's a great foundation, and I see a lot of promise here. But there was only so much fun I was able to squeeze out of such an incomplete demo.

Worth a buy on you tube is an honest reviewer and he reviewed it a couple of days ago. As far as I know, the reviewers are playing a slightly earlier version than the one coming out today, but the worth a buy review should give you an idea if its for you.

It certainly looks good and doesnt appear to be a shilled hype game like the big developers.

Hype is a funny thing.

The Dev posted recently downplaying the game to manage expectations saying its not a Total War competitor.

On the first page of comments on that post someone then said "Total War battles arent goog enough so for me this is a TW competitor" lol.

I think a lot of people are expecting this game to be a lot more than it is and are then going to complain about the battles and warfare aspects, which arent meant to be the main part of the game.

I believe they are. I listen to Polish youtubers and their opinion is that the game has little content atm and they wonder why there is such a huge hype for this game.
