Did trade become unfeasable in beta?
I noticed that opting for beta kinda messed up my save, but most importantly trade perks are significantly nerfed

1. trade routs are 50% cheaper (which who cares if the route was insanely unaffordabe now its 50% less insanely unaffordable)... the main branch fixed the cost to 25

2. import good prices perk : not sure how much it reduces the impotats but it used to do -10 to all imports, which meant you could actually import things for same price you export them...

even with the original buffed perks i had barely been breaking even, even though i would import raw materials and export expensive items, the prices would go down quickly resulting in a case that you still need those items produced (cos your people consume them) but now you dont want to export them until market price goes back to normal...

the beta branch completely destroyed my run (cos i had 2 rich resources, and no fertile soil)... i feel like its very unusable the way it is in beta

Agree, expensive items should stay expensive and for a good reason. (like some of the best weapons & armor) since there are more production lines to consider when crafting them and more valuable resources involved. invested points and deep mines to mine iron, altering your entire map and playstyle to fit your trade export.

The prices don't drop so fast anymore. Before, I sell 50 clothes and the price drops to 1. On beta, I sell 300 clothes, and the price doesn't drop./

My annoyance is when selecting to just buy and sell locally, I can't do that with things like armor or even charcoal since they require a major trade route.

I only played the original release once and became stupid rich through Trade... the beta aimed to curb this and DID nerf the Trading Post. I've been playing the new patch this whole time and it is certainly challenging but NOT impossible. Best of luck :steamhappy:

Sounds promising, as long as the game takes expensive raw materials and the production lines required to make them into consideration. Clothes and boots made by leather is fairly easy and cheap to produce. You only need hunters, goat house upgrade, and a tanner to make. Those prices can fluctuate since they are so cheap to export/import but if you are focusing on exporting the most expensive armor and weapon export, you'd go bankrupt if those prices all of a sudden dropped significantly.

Same :steamhappy: easy to cheese when starting a new game and want some extra coin. just reroll until you find a map with rich stone deposits, start trading most of it right away, keeping a small surplus. I had 500 coins right away

Nerf was so needed.
Trade cheese ran rampant, everything smelled all 'cheesey'.
Even on beta release, trade still isn't hard. You just can't unlock everything. Well, you can, it just takes time...but...why do you need to unlock everything? Take what you have, what that region is good at, and literally unlock just a few routes for it. Bam, problem solved...

As for the 'must take this or you suck' trade development branch? Naw. Just...no. So many levels no. Even on release branch you didn't even need to do that. At all. In any way.

For me it is easy to trade and i make lots of money. I sell warbows, shields, yarn, cloaks, gambesons and i buy sometimes few things. i find it very easy.

speaking of trade, are you guys putting trading posts close to the edge of the map to the trading points or closer to your production places?
When I think about it, the traders can be on horseback so moving the trading post in a more central location would make sense.

Wait and see , remember that the trade perk are the first two of the branch , everything else is unavalable atm , dont expect it to make your "end game" that OP , not cry for a buff , let the game goes with a full trade perk tree , see what happend then , and maybe , it will need buff or nerf , but only then lol

They are always down the road from my market.
And since all the production things are near the market (cause, you know, easy to supply the market..and historical! Go figure how that works out...), that means they have easy access to whatever they are selling. Which means they spend less time working on that, more time trading.

Dont shout for not having 200% on profit. Just shhhh you still get 66% 30% profit.

nerf was needed and its good to see prices don't drop suddenly after selling

Well you needed that because literally anything that you seell drops quick to 0 so you basically needed to produce everything and even refine everything...

Not sure about selling stone... i suppose its OP cos price wont go below 0?

If the beta changed price change limits then it explains it, i just didn't survive long enough to see it... and even initial trade routes are like 100+

how am i supposed to have so much coin when i haven't even started trading...

Ok since all existing guides and videos will now be completely wrong, i have a few questions if you'll indulge me.

1. How do you get the initial coin to even do a few trade routes?
2. Is AI cheating or it is possible to get to claiming territories that early... before year ends (I'm playing on default difficulty)
3. I have tons of food, i have people working in several different food types but still i get some homes without supply of food... whats wrong? is it correct that market doesn't need to be close to homes? only to production, do citizens carry their produce home?
4. What do you need horses for? is it for trading between your own regions? i hired one but no one is using it.
5. I suppose with the new trade changes we need to focus on 1 or two products and sell those? Even without prices dropping rapidly, i do not see how i can get 100s of coin to get some of the routes open that i need.
