Its a win-win. You don't put your troops in danger and get the money.
You only need 1 unit.
The moment you see the baron raise his army, raise yours and run them, steering well clear of the baron's troops and brigands and be sure not to trigger the bandits to attack first, stay far enough away until the baron is engaged.
Once the bandits are dead and the camp sacked you can return home and disband.
This is the way, just wait for the baron to send his army first before you send your own. targeting is a bit wonky but best to just stay further a bit by 50% to 2 times away, and just zerg rush the enemy camp. You won't need the stamina anyway.
Of course, then 2x18 raiders showed up later, and my fully armored retinue of 7 got killed while my bowmen militia survived. Now I'm in debt and it will likely only get worse because traders aren't buying much at all, so I never get above 50 in regional wealth.
