plenty of places selling it for £16
I did change a setting when creating the game to delay raiders a bit. Still was a problem, I wasn't ready. But ultimately I realized it was better to let them burn down half my village than try to fight them. And next time I'll be ready. My militia is now twice the size and much better equipped.
Whilst there are certainly some bugs, I also think some of it is just not understanding the game mechanics properly and I'm gradually learning it all with lots of help on here.
Hopefully more depth with come. One thing is for sure, this game really does drain your free time fast!
This is simply incorrect.
The Majority of EA -Games rise in price once they go v1.0gold.
That´s because the risks of EA are no longer an issue, and they can call full price, because many people have tested the features and bugs.
EA is literally "Pay a little less, but expect less, also!"
Now, then there is the other side; SALES!
Every year there is:
- Spring Sale
- Chinese New year´s sale
- Spring Break Sale
- Summer Sale
- Single´s Day Sale
- Halloween Sale
- Black Week Sale
- Holiday Sale
Holiday Sale and Black Week, are usually the most hefty ones in Discounts, 50%-70%+ are to be expected on the majority of genres.
Spring Sale usually targets "Happy landscape games", with up to 33%+
Chinese New Year Sale targets the Asian market, so whatever they like will be 25%-50%+ off.
Spring Break Sale most often targets Party Games and Multiplayer with 30%+
Summer Sale is the first broad Genre Sale, where everything is around 30%-50% off.
Single´s Day is mostly romance games, couple´s games, and Multiplayer with 20%-30% off.
Halloween Sale aims at Horror and Gore games with the highest discounts next to Black Friday.
And that´s it.
Of all of those Black Week usually sports the highest discounts in any genre, followed by the Holiday sale, and Summer Sale.
Now, you can pretty much calculate, where you can buy this game on sale, which is right now at 25%.
Some other rules of thumb from a 15+ years Steam user:
Most Gold Games don´t go on true sale in their first year.
Most Gold Games do their first big sale on Anniversary.
After two years the latest, they appear somewhere in the Bundles
After three years the latest, they appear on Humble Choice, and Epic Giveaways, IF they are not platform bound.
I don't know if the gamepass version has gotten the recent patches, but you can still try the main gameplay loop. Might be a bit more buggy than the current steam version tho.
I have played 181 hours, and the only bug that I consistently encounter every playthrough is the AI glitching out and pathfinding breaking down once I hit a global population of 1000+ on the map.
I have learned to stay below 1000 citizens in a playthrough by minimizing my secondary villages, in order to avoid this glitch, which will be patched in the future, I am sure, because the developer Greg has put out ads for AI programmers he wants to hire as part of his development team.
Every other bug I have ever encountered was either an imbalance introduced via a recent patch (which is going to be fixed at some point, and lots of it already has been fixed) or wasn't a bug at all, but simply my own fault for not understanding the game mechanics correctly.
I've had only a handful of crashes so far, and I was able to immediately restart the game and continue playing from my last autosave.
For a game that is still in the alpha stage, I find this quite satisfactory. I had more problems with "Dawn of Man" when it went into Early Access.
