church? ok but please add a synagogue to the game.
Let’s explore synagogues during the Middle Ages, particularly in Europe during the 14th century.

Old Synagogue in Erfurt, Germany:
The Old Synagogue in Erfurt, Germany, is a remarkable example. Portions of this synagogue date back to around 1100, making it one of the oldest synagogue buildings still standing in Europe. However, most of the structure we see today was built in the 13th and 14th centuries. It has been used as a museum of Jewish history since 200912.
Ibn Shoshan Synagogue (Santa María la Blanca) in Toledo, Spain:
By the late Middle Ages, Toledo, Spain, had at least eleven synagogues. Two of these—the Samuel Halevi Abulafia synagogue and the Ibn Shoshan synagogue—stand just a few blocks apart in the old Jewish quarter.
The Ibn Shoshan Synagogue, likely first built around 1180, displays a style inspired by the Islamic architecture that surrounded it. This style, known as Mudéjar, was used by patrons and builders from different religious backgrounds living in parts of Spain formerly governed by Muslims.
Unfortunately, the Ibn Shoshan Synagogue was later converted into a church (renamed Santa María la Blanca) in 1411, and only the architectural remnants remain from its original use as a synagogue3.
El Ghriba Synagogue in Djerba, Tunisia:
Although not in Europe, it’s worth mentioning the El Ghriba Synagogue in Djerba, Tunisia. It is said to have been built in 586 BC or 70 AD, making it the oldest synagogue still standing and in continuous use in the world. However, due to the migration of nearly all of Egypt’s Jews to Israel, it is no longer used as a synagogue but has been preserved as a museum.

Guys, I have a strong argument for you. Manor lords takes place in the lands of Franconia. Franconia was an important cradle of Jewish life in southern Germany, with more than 400 Jewish communities. The Jewish Museum of Franconia offers a fascinating glimpse into nearly 1,000 unbroken years of Jewish history.

Yea, sure, but Erfurt is a big city, where as the setting in this game is rural, and that stone church looks the part...i.e., it is not a catherdral.

People of the old faith gathered in large towns, for the most part. If they were out in the hinterlands, Saturday gatherings at a villagers house would be the place of learning and worship, I would speculate.

It's just a game man... Stop trying to make everything so serious and all-inclusive. It's not gonna happen.

Why the F would a town of 2000 people in Germany have a synagogue anyway?

Inb4 someone asks for a mosque because diversity.

And also let's not forget the flying spaghetti monster temple too.

Are there relevant documented examples of synagogues to be found in small villages in this sort of setting?

The church is all we're getting, and it's all we need.

100% inclusion doesn't work as a business model. The wider range of people you try to please, the more bland your product results in being.

Putting that aside, just use your imagination. That building could represent whatever religion you want it to. There could even eventually be mods to change the visible look of the structure to what you want.

In the end, let's face it. Making the game feature complete takes priority over cosmetic visual variation.

I want a Temple honoring Joshua Graham!
Or, why not a whole set of Temples and Mosques? Just to add to the medieval european setting!

Does every game have to be for everyone? Apparently this one isn't for you. I have a three suggestions for you, play without building a church or switch to The Settlers or please leave...
Hondo May 23, 2024 @ 10:54pm
No, I don't think we need to do this. It's just silly - it's a game. Move on.
unreal May 23, 2024 @ 11:23pm
I played it yesterday. it started raining, lightning struck the church and destroyed it

It would be good if the church was only for cosmetic purposes. So that the popularity does not decrease. For example, I play on the hardest difficulty, it could be there.

Just to be clear, I am not from Israel, I am not descended from Jewish parents. I just don't want to build a Christian church, I don't agree with the Vatican's policy, etc.

Alternatively, if anyone has any advice on how I can edit the texture of the church, in which editor, which file?
