Click on the army button at the bottom of the screen. You'll see all your squad banners, select the retinue one. You'll find two new buttons will appear above the unit banner. First says "rally" and it will summon the soldiers to the field. The second is says "Customize" (the icon is like a broom, I think), and it will open a new menu in which you can see all soldiers in the retinue.
Most of the options are currently disabled as they are only planned features, but there are two functional buttons there: one to recruit more men (costs 50 gold per each), and one to upgrade each one with better armor (costs like 20 gold or so I think).
You can fill up any missing members that way. You also re-recruit soldiers if any die in battle this way, retinues won't automatically replentish otherwise. Once you'll have multiple retinues, you have to do this for each one of them individually.
And don't worry, I completely missed this the first time I played as well.
