What is unhistorical about the lord walking through his domain? Especially a lord of lower rank...these people did not stay in their castle like a chinese emperor....
So, let´s collect the stuff we have. Medieval age, in a christian nation. All of sudden a lower lord decorates the only settlement he owns with banners and flags displaying his family colors and coat of arms everywhere, worth of a king´s joust. People at that time would look at it confused. Even maybe followed thinking the lord displays the archsin of vanity. Also making all these banners would cost you, the tailoring, the (according to the colors you have choosen)expensive dyes....you don´t want your coat of arms roughly sewn on a lump of greybrown peasant linnen, will you? <---- By the way, I exaggerate. :)
I repeat, your wish clearly does not fit into the big picture the developer has of his game.
But I am pretty sure a mod with banners, flags and poles will appear sooner or later after game release. And I am absolutly ok with that. Only asking the developer putting in some extra work making flags and banners and leave them in the game as an extra option is, kindly said, too much asked for....
