Oh, no! I didn't know it's limited. Downloaded it and not played yet...
in that case sorry, i didnt get it the 1st time.
Yeah sure i got the demo, like it and all that.
But a bit sad somehow.
Why make a good game, and have such a bad marketing strategy?
Its really too long of a story to explain, but i was really glad to see a demo for an actually promising game.
Back in the days demos/freeware/shareware etc. was all over the place.
Remember how DooM etc. were released?
I just cant agree with the whole demo drama. Having it available for only a short period of time, was simply a bad idea.
Its less publicity which equals less money in the bank.
Which means everyone actually buying it, will get a worse experience for their money.
Wether its less content/features, or for certain types of people you seem concerned about, maybe just the longer wait.
Which imo isnt even a relevant factor. There are more games than anyone can play already.
And no, im not complaining because i missed it. I got it right here on my ssd.
But less people can try it, the ones that already have it, keep playing it anyhow.
Which means the whole intention/purpose/whatever failed.
No matter what way you turn it, its a loss loss situation for everyone.
Noone is going to harass you.
Noone can force you to speed up the development process.
You should just get used to not listening to that sort of people.
Its not as if you were forced to hand out your private adress and email, and and couldnt choose to simply ignore such BS.
Look at the ammount of people with positive feedback, and then the negative ones.
If you know whats good for you, and actually want to get paid for all the work you put into this project, you should give people that missed the demo a chance aswell.
Anyways, best of luck
Hope to see more in the future.
Holy crap some of you people are really going full tin-foil hat, and over-thinking this...
Slavic's already explained why... The demo was a REALLY early, as in pre-alpha even, release of Manor Lords, which was very limited in scope, and was merely done as part of Next Fest... It was never intended as a formal, official demo for the game, and he doesn't want people assuming it was by having it available officially...
Consider it nothing more than a very basic teaser, which had a very limited "free week" window -- which is really very common -- and be done with it...
When he's ready, I'm sure he'll release an official demo, or we'll get a proper Early Access release... Until then there's really no point coming up with wild conspiracies, and flawed attempts at logical arguments for why it should be relisted, generally on the basis of how "unfair" it is to take it away from people who missed out -- sorry, but that's life, it happens, and have some patience for those who did miss out...
Time for people to move on... And respect Slavic's wishes...
Yeah it's akin to a developer having a playable demo of something they're working on at a gaming convention to drum up or gauge hype. Nobody throws a fit at the end of the con about it no longer being available.
Well, yeah, that's exactly it, and a perfect analogy, really...
Except Slavic, since he's made really clear why it's not gonna happen, yet people keep asking... People apparently can't, or simply won't, read...
Nagging for a demo, which Slavic has said he does not want widely distributed because it's too early a release is not offering ideas... Charging for it then means he's obliged to offer support, bug fixing, etc on what is basically a pre-Alpha build...
You're not offering ideas, you're just another person nagging for the demo to be released, and not listening to the reasons why Slavic has asked people to respect his decision for why it was a limited time offer, and wait for Early Access...
As for money helping development, Slavic has mentioned previously he's already secured more than enough funding to cover development, so is not under pressure to have revenue coming in until he is ready to release into Early Access... Should that change, I'm sure Slavic will let us all know...
