Build more houses
I have 10 houses, but only 8 workers I can assign to other builds.

each "family" is basically one worker. so the father is the worker, wife takes care of the kids is what im guessing. it confused me a bit too. needs to be more clear in game, unless i missed something in the too tips.

That's basically it, one house = one family = one worker

I stupidly never considered each burgage to only house a single worker. Now that my bustling 150+peasant town is dead to a crash, I'll keep this in mind next time I'm struggling and wondering why everything is developing so slowly. so, thx. lmao.

Which is also why you need to watch how you expand, because as you build things, it pulls workers from other production chains

Build houses before building a production chain so you aren't waiting endlessly for them to find workers

Also when you can, build a livestock trader and get more oxen, efficiency goes through the roof even when you have one more oxen pulling timber

there could be more than 1 adult male in 1 family, and some job like the farm can employ the wife. so it depends on the job.

you should assign 1 worker (family) at a time to the most crucial jobs and let the less important one with employ idle button instead. and from there assign more as you expand and build more housing
