Did Darktide play it too safe? Another zombie shooter
In the 40K setting there are tons of enemies we could have gotten, Orks, Tyranids, Necrons, Drukhari, Chaos Daemons, Tau, Eldar.

Out of all those choices, we got the most safe, most cookie cutter, least imaginative enemy selection, Nurgle zombies. Out of all the 40K enemies we could have gotten, we got the most bland and forgettable enemies, the ones we have done a hundred times before. Basically make it a Left 4 Dead clone, but 40K. I can't help but be disappointed in this game direction.

Also environment selection, a hive city. All the maps look and feel the same. Claustrophobic, dark, brown/grey color pallet. It's all very samey, it all blurs together and feels uninspired after a while.

These two big elements when taken together, Darktide seems like a massive missed opportunity.

You have this huge grimdark 40K setting, you take that, and churn out a bland Left 4 Dead rehash. Meh

Eh, its not quite that bad, but i see your point.

That being said, at least they went up against chaos. That opens up at least three other factions representing the other gods you could throw in with little to no lore issue. Nurgle was a safe and simple bet to start, but they could really expand if they look into the other three.

Slannesh might be a dud though. Shame.

Slaannesh is not going to happen and Tzeentch is way beyond Fatshark's brainpower. Khorne is boring and most likely.

Lemme show you a little life hack.

In the 40K setting there are tons of enemies we can still get, Orks, Tyranids, Necrons, Drukhari, Chaos Daemons, Tau, Eldar.
They did better work on specials than it was on vermintide. A very wide variety of them wich is cool. If we dont look at perfomance, weapon balancing and maps, they did a realy good enemy pool.

I just hope they release more DIFFERENT maps to play, some ork or tyranid dlc will good to see too if happends. This game has huge potential actualy, but devs Swedish methods to solve problems will stretch it in MONTHS and YEARS. They can do everything, but it will be a very long run.

yaeh well so what. My friends and I are coming from 40k, others are coming from playing zombie shooters. If you're oversatuated with zombie shooters, who cares. You're not the true 40k fans who should be served here. We're not bored with zombie shooters because we didn't play zombie shooters last month.
No with other races its too hard for newbie to progress to Inquisitor, when we became Inquisitor maybe they will add some more races.

I think the devs did hint at Orks being DLC somewhere. That will be awesome. Would have loved this to be Greentide instead of Darktide, have a greenskin invasion of a planet, with a really cool new Warboss character leading it that you want to work to take down, tons of different environments all over the planet you deploy to.

My guts tell me, we will see Orks in the far future. They are perfect for horde attacks and goofy lines.

if you think it's another zombie shooter then you probably haven't dug deep enough into the complexity of melee combats.
