There is Denuvo DRM which is supposed to stop piracy, and the odd game was cracked anyways if idiots paid a cracker enough money for it.
Then there is Anti cheat, which is supposed to check your system for hacks.
Since Denuvo is harmful to your system, the idea that Anti cheat may be as well is a good possibility. Regardless, anything from Denuvo is very intrusive to your system, and seriously should be considered a breach of privacy or against some law.
As I said before steam games that use it have a huge disclaimer policy about how they can't be held liable etc!
The issue is so much games have denuvo so if you don't want to wait for the game to remove it then you are forced to use it.
