why? this is not realistic, it's just weird. why do i hold my weapon like a street thug when i have my nvgs on?

Because they cover both eyes. You don't have enough room to actually use the weapon sights with the NVGs on your head.

yes i do. with the mp7 and the weaver sight. i sure do.

Well that's for game balance purposes so NVGs aren't totally busted, since they would be otherwise.

For $7 I'm not too upset but it sounds like this game can't make up its mind if it wants to be realistic or if it wants to be one of those "PVP round based perfectly balanced for unrealistic gaming opportunities games"

It's just a shame because it markets itself as a slow paced tactical realistic shooter but the AI snapshooting, some of the balancing rules, and some other stuff just give me the opposite feeling

I like the game but man there are some shortcomings

I've used red dots with PVS-14s and PVS-15s, you can ADS with NODs.

But, you can also use lasers to aim if you have things like an ACOG/LPVO, or are using a promask.

Aiming down sights with NVGs is not easy. I know cause I shoot on Nods a lot. I would much rather use my laser than not. That Trex arms video works, and that guy is just a gun nut, thats it.

I was looking for someone who knows what they're talking about, granted he's not prior Military or LEO. He does break it down how somebody would who was prior Military/LEO, it's just not practical to try and line up two tubes together fast and effectively. Using the same fundamentals with the weapon minus aiming down the sight and aiming with an IR laser instead is a lot better.

shooting with nods using irons or a scope is near impossible easier to use a laser
Cryptic Aug 31, 2021 @ 11:58am
I'm pretty accurate with shooting over top of the scope as it is now or with the laser but I should be able to choose even if I'm at a disadvantage or something or I have to hold the weapon a little bit further away from me.

If I'm using some kind of reflex sight or holographic that is way far down the gun then I should be able to use nods but if I'm using an actual scope or an ACOG or something then I could understand. It's just goofy when I take a long weapon and visually the optic is way far away from me to the point where if I just held the weapon at regular distance I could obviously see down the sight

I mean, most modern red dots are design with NODs in mind. It's a big thing with EOTech and their sights.

I think this company is doing pretty good considering its in early access. Just bout all functions are working etc..

Ok, but that's not actually realistic. Your average NVG's, particularly PVS-14 type monoculars, have awful depth perception and clarity. Optics like PVS-31's (thank god we use those now) can utilize a EOTECH with the right setup, but you also can't aim like you usually would. You'd have to lean your nods away so they don't impact with the optic/weapon and shoulder-stock away from your traditional sight picture. So no one really does that. Let me tell you that for 1: Every US Marine, and our Aussie counterparts, use PEQ-16 lasers. 2: every SEAL I've ever met used the same technique for night operations. MARSOC too. Quit complaining about a realistic mechanic being unrealistic unless you know, and use your PEQ laser like almost all combat arms personnel actually do.

Yeah, it's a weak argument. People that make the argument that they can look through NOD's and ADS a red dot have never done it or have no experience trying to do it. Yeah maybe you can but you can't acquire a target fast doing it. This game is close quarters, using the NOD's with an IR laser is a lot more effective. For snipers you can mount a thermal or night vision device in front of an optic but trying to ADS a red dot in a close quarters environment with NOD's doesn't make sense.

I don't know why people are pretending like its impossible here. Yes be realistic with it being a cheap game but I would like to see the option to maybe press alt or something to switch to normal sights while using NVG (assuming the setup allows it like most do), just increase the time to ADS to make it clunky or something if thats an issue.

If aiming down any optic or red dot was impossible than every serious optic wouldn't make NVG support a priority and have a mode for it. Doesn't mean it's always ideal but it isn't impossible and certainly isn't never useful.
