Why does the Galactic Council no longer exist?

This was one of the most interesting and differentiating features of Galactic Civilization II.

Do you know why it was removed?

Are you referring to the United Planets?

If so, it WILL be coming back eventually. But for IV starting out it was removed for lore reasons (it's utter failure at preventing the Drengin from enslaving half the known universe).

Excellent news, for me this is one of the really differentiating features of GC compared to the other 4x and it offers a form of short-term objective and a very interesting twist to the game.

I can't wait to hand out penalties to my worst enemies.

CIV5: 2010

I don't remember it being in CIV4 and the integration in CIV is much less interesting than on GCII.

I repeat, it's something that's quite uncommon in 4X and especially as well integrated as on GCII.

You have the ability to leave the UP.

My recollection is that you are auto-joined council and if you leave it, it is all-out war. Which is highly unrealistic.
