Galaxy size?
Could someone tell me what's up with the galaxy sizes? I've seen images online of people playing the game with huge galaxy maps, and yet when I set the galaxy size to gigantic with only 1 sector, I get a pathetic, tiny little map like this:
https://imgur.com/a/jkCKLIH

Surely something's wrong here, right? Like I must have messed up a setting, there's no way that this is the biggest map I can get. I could generate maps WAY bigger than this in galciv 2. Or maybe I'm messing something up with the new sector system? I thought by setting the sector count to 1 I wouldn't have to deal with that, but maybe I didn't account for something?

That dont look right, my max size single sector galaxy is enormous. Ive only reached the half way point in my conquest of it over the last 70+ hours or so

That seems a bit smaller than I'd expect. And this is with 2.01?

Yes, this is 2.01

Thanks. I'll take a look to see if there's some random factor something going on.

In 2.1 it's scheduled to get made bigger anyway.

Thanks. It isn't anything to do with RAM, is it? It says that for a map this size 32GB of RAM is RECOMMENDED, which I don't have at the moment. But it doesn't say I can't still make a map of that size. So I guess my question is, is the map size limited by the amount of memory I have available?

I don't think so. I think that's just a recommendation and really, if you have an SSD, you're probably ok.

I'll know more tomorrow when I have the code in front of me. :)

same problem here ... it seems that each sector has a limited number of planet? I need to set toe many sector in a gigantic setting to have large number of planet spawning ..

While talking about new game setting .. why is it that we cannot customise and set individual setting for anomalies, resources, asteroids etc individually? I can only have one generic slider bar for "resources"

I'm seeing a lot more randomness in the map settings in 2.01. In one game I'll have 2 medium sector and 3 tiny and another is 4 tiny and a medium or large sector.

Medium Galaxy.

A game with a few sectors and a game with many sectors.

Haven't really seen a difference in the sector sizes.
Looks to me it is all the same sector sizes (some middle some small) but that one with many sectors has simple more of this sectors.

Stars set to abundant.
Map looking good, but when is the galaxy editor going to be added? I enjoy adding more planets and resources to the map.

Think of it like this:
Galaxy Size: This is the overall size of the game world. It's the total space within which all the sectors are placed.

Number of Sectors: These are the subdivided areas within the galaxy or map. Each sector can be thought of as a smaller, distinct area that connects to other sectors, creating a network or grid within the larger map.

It will then try to fill up the space you've given it. A giant map with 1 sector will fill the entire galaxy with 1 sector (like previous GalCiv games).

When you add additional sectors, those sectors will obviously be smaller because it has to fit those sub-maps into the space that was previously reserved for the single huge sector.

The problem is it's not doing that for me. I set it to gigantic galaxy, one sector, and I'm still stuck with just one small sector that only occupies a tiny little portion of the galaxy. Is there some setting I have to change or something?

Just an update on this. It was determined looking at this issue in the Discord with Kid Shelleen that the galaxy generation was constrained by RAM.
