In 2.1 it's scheduled to get made bigger anyway.
Thanks. It isn't anything to do with RAM, is it? It says that for a map this size 32GB of RAM is RECOMMENDED, which I don't have at the moment. But it doesn't say I can't still make a map of that size. So I guess my question is, is the map size limited by the amount of memory I have available?
I don't think so. I think that's just a recommendation and really, if you have an SSD, you're probably ok.
I'll know more tomorrow when I have the code in front of me. :)
While talking about new game setting .. why is it that we cannot customise and set individual setting for anomalies, resources, asteroids etc individually? I can only have one generic slider bar for "resources"

Stars set to abundant.
A game with a few sectors and a game with many sectors.
Haven't really seen a difference in the sector sizes.
Looks to me it is all the same sector sizes (some middle some small) but that one with many sectors has simple more of this sectors.
Think of it like this:
Galaxy Size: This is the overall size of the game world. It's the total space within which all the sectors are placed.
Number of Sectors: These are the subdivided areas within the galaxy or map. Each sector can be thought of as a smaller, distinct area that connects to other sectors, creating a network or grid within the larger map.
It will then try to fill up the space you've given it. A giant map with 1 sector will fill the entire galaxy with 1 sector (like previous GalCiv games).
When you add additional sectors, those sectors will obviously be smaller because it has to fit those sub-maps into the space that was previously reserved for the single huge sector.
The problem is it's not doing that for me. I set it to gigantic galaxy, one sector, and I'm still stuck with just one small sector that only occupies a tiny little portion of the galaxy. Is there some setting I have to change or something?
