Game won't start

Hi there!

I have a problem with Chaos Theory. At first there were no problems at all, the game launched and I played till the ship mission (third level I believe). But later in the mission the game crashed and I wasn't able to load my savegames.

Now a day later I'm not able to launch the game at all. When I try I get a prompt from STEAM which says "Failed to start game (app already running)". But there is no other instance of Chaos Theory running.

Validated all files and they were fine and did an uninstall and fresh installation but didn't helped either. Anybody with the same problem or even better a solution?

Fixed!!!
I was getting this problem and i just fixed it.
I did what some guy said on these forums and it worked!
All i did was opt out of any beta participation....and boom! it works :)
Just thought i might share to anyone who is getting this problem :)

Please dont download binary files from unreputable sources. It could contain viruses, key stealer etc. Plus, that guy cant even prove how the application is legit and what does he do to make it work.

I urge people NOT to download from unrealiable links, or unknown sources to "fix" their games.

It can contain viruses and more.

Van I recommend you try my fix again, and double check everything.
Then come back to me, and tell me exactly what you did, in every little single detail.

The file I downloaded luckily contained no viruses (I've scanned it with Spybot S&D and with AVG Antivirus 2014) and the inofficial Patch worked for me and fixed my Problem.

I had these Problems with my non-steamversion previously and I've fixed it with the NoCD/DVD fix. But I think Steam don't use the Starforce copyprotection.

AVG isn't exactly the most reliable anti-virus software.
But if the fix works for you, then by all means.

And yes, my fix was for those who could not start the game.
I didn't experience any crashes nor did anyone else I've helped wit this either.

No need to post new comments here mate, this has been fixed a long time ago.
While yours may work, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone else as mine works just fine as well and posted it back in 2013.

Guys to fix this problem on any computer windows 8 and 7

Go to the splinter cell icon right click then press propertys and just keep trying until you get
Compalibility press troubleshoot compability
I will say dectecting problems once thats done
It will say try recomended setting press that next and next and more words will
Desplay if not next again then thats all

Click splinter cell CT(chaos theory)
And there nothing else your game works
