It could have been much, much better than it was. The co-op was better than CT's co-op, I'll give it that.
But the story was terrible.
Yes, but Double agent have 2 version, V1 on the xbox 1 (the first xbox), and a other version, V2, PC and other, Check the market steam, the picture are the V1, but the game is the V2
People don't like things to change, but look at call of duty, is the same game since modern warfare, people buy lots of it, but the game is a crap, didn't evolve in any sense.
So I liked the changes in splinter cell and I hope they keep changing, I don't want the same game over and over.
The change from double agent to conviction was really too much, high use of guns, less stealth, etc. but I liked the story, coop, new modes and new characters.
And what I liked most in blacklist is that you have the option to play in the old ways (ghost), conviction/batman style (panther
Agreed, although I think BL was a big step in the right direction. Not as many forced action sequences and when played on perfectionist mode it actually felt like Splinter Cell. Had they added interrogations and kept Ironside it would have topped CT. Just my opinion.
*You can't block enemies from going through doors anymore (they'll just kick in the door and instant-kill Sam Fisher).
*Elbow shots are removed as Sam will just one-hit kill or knockout enemies. (One hit kills go both ways as enemies with rifles will usually kill in one hit at point blank range)
*A sound meter in addition to the light meter adds to the gameplay. (You can run through loud areas without worry, but will have to move slowly through dark areas with hard flooring)
The multiplayer for Chaos theory was dead the last time I checked,so your only hope of playing a stealth based multiplayer game is to either play Blacklist's Spies vs Mercs in classic mode,or to wait a few years for Project Stealth to come out.

I've only played the Spies vs Mercs portion of SplinterCell:Blacklist (on classic mode) and it's a pretty damn awesome stealth based multiplayer game, even if it is dumbed down from Chaos Theory's iteration.
--I highly suggest you stay away from Splintercell:Double Agent unless you get it for $5 or less. Its's so buggy and unoptimised, you won't believe it. The game also lacks the light/sound meters and instead has a barely functional greenlight (hidden) and yellowlight (unhidden).
I really enjoyed Double Agent (played it on 360, sounds like the PC version is bad). The way you had to balance your trust between the 2 factions was pretty cool and led to some interesting choices. But I'll readily admit this is where the story took a nosedive in their poor attempt to "humanize" Fisher by introducing his daughter. Completely unnecessary move for the series that Conviction ran with, while introducing even more problems.
Yup, that flashback was probably the only moment I liked (or even remember) from that game. The co-op mode with Archer and Kestrel was surprisingly good, though.
Pandora Tomorrow is the only one I haven't played. I have a copy of the original Xbox version, just need to set aside some time to play it. This dude did a great Splinter Cell retrospective and Pandora Tomorrow is his personal favorite: http://youtu.be/j1DjGnV5dWk
