Heat Vision Goggles looks cold *SOLVED*
Hi, everybody.

I have a problem with the Thermal Goggles on Chaos Theory. When I turn on the Heat vision goggles, everything is cold, even the characters and Sam Fisher looks cold. Everything works fine, I just have this problem while playing. Any suggestions?

Thank you very much!

SOLVED!!!!

Look for Sammy Da Fish's comment. It really worked for me. Finally I can play this game with thermal googgles on!

So I need to toss atiumd64 and atiumdag into SCCT>System? This doesn't seem to work for me. Using R9 270X ITX.

Well you could use any of the Directx 9.0 files before 15.9 too if it dosent work. Im pretty sure anything past 15.11 will still cause the heatvision to go cold. 15.10 caused me to crash on an r7 250 so you could try whatever works for you. Make sure you selected Directx 9.0 btw on the site or your not gonna be getting the right file. Good luck btw!

Can't say any of the older files work either. Another thread recommends you actually install the old GPU drivers, so I may try that once I finish up a couple of other games I am working on.

Are there any graphics options I may have checked/unchecked which may be causing this issue? Is there any .ini value I should be changing? Or is it specifically a compatibility issue with newer tech?

By putting the atiumd64 and atiumdag into the system folder you are basically doing the same thing as reinstalling old gpu drivers. Of course you can still try to install older drivers if you wish, but I do not think it will make a difference. When AMD released its Crimson update, any game using the oldest version of directx 9 would have problems. Battlefront 2 for example, that game after Crimson update would display corrupted textures, to fix it you would do the fix I stated earlier for this game. Personally, I have everything to highest it can go but I turned off ingame Anti-Aliasing and Vertical Sync. Oh, and if you are trying to player versus mode then this fix won't work. Versus uses Directx 8 instead of 9 so doing this for versus would have no effect. The fix I posted is for SINGLEPLAYER and COOP only.

Well, scratch what i said earlier, i upgraded my card from a 290 to a 390, and this fix no longer works.

Heeeelp :(
Doesnt bother me that much, but it would be cool if a definite fix would appear
Maybe i should contact AMD but i dont think they would care about a 12yo game.

I tried all of them,
using old drivers isn't really a solution.

This hasn't worked for me, just as well as the MEGA downloads. :/

Scratch that last reply. It's working out for me. I simply forgot to open DXWnd program first.

This fix has always worked for me but last year a Windows update messed everything up and now any time I have the files in my System folder the thermal goggles work fine but the game stutters a lot and the FPS drops any time I look towards a light source. Is there any way around this? I either play with no thermal and good FPS or have thermal and can hardly play it.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=728093866 it is kind of late but in case if someone come across and still in need, here's the guide that fixes almost every chaos theory's technical problem such as cold thermal in amd gpu and resolution measurement
